Stormig Posted December 25, 2002 Report Share Posted December 25, 2002 Armenia became the first country in our region, where the famous Swiss watch manufacturing company `Franck Muller' opened its representation ArmTV20 Dec 2002 Yerevan Armenia became the first country in our region, where the famous Swiss watch manufacturing company `Franck Muller' opened its representation. `Our wish is to make Armenia a front-line country in watch manufacturing ` with this purpose we are planning to attract and bring to Armenia other famous Swiss watch manufacturing companies' ` stated the founder of the company Franck Muller during his meeting with president Kocharian in Yerevan on December 20th. Noting that economic cooperation with Switzerland becomes business-oriented, Robert Kocharian said that watch manufacturing is one of the perspective branches of Armenian economy, taking into consideration the fact that the sphere of qualified labor and sophisticated technologies is declared a priority sphere. The president said that the Government is ready to do its best in supporting the company's activities.It is noteworthy, that Franck Muller is involved in the spheres of jewellery making, optical glasses manufacturing, as well as of leather processing and agriculture in Armenia.Frank Muller is also one of the founders of the Armenian company AWI. In average, AWI sells 700 thousand watches annually only on the Russian market. The privileged status of trade with CIS countries and membership in the WTO promises new markets for our locally manufactured products. Probably this is the reason for another hysteria started in Azerbaijan ` the latter blamed the company for making investments in Armenia and Artsakh.
