MosJan Posted November 5, 2001 Report Share Posted November 5, 2001 JCA TO OFFICIALLY OPEN 2002 SPRINGThe Armenian-British-Swiss Jewelry Company of Armenia (JCA) will open officially in Yerevan in spring, 2002. It will open with the assistance of the Diamond Company of Armenia (DCA), the head of which Gagik Abrahamian said that construction of the company had started 8 months ago, and about $1 mln was invested in it in that period of time. He said some 130 future employees were learning now jeweler's art on the already furnished ground floor. According to him, their number will be doubled during the upcoming 1-2 months. Abrahamian said that the documents of the new jewelry company with 1,000 vacancies will be ready one of these days. While in DCA, which has about $80-$100 mln annual volume of sale, 500 people work with wages of about $300. The head of the JCA Swiss-Armenian Toros Sakerian said that the company would have about 300-400 employees. He thinks that at present it will be very good to make Armenia a center for jewelry, the first precondition for which is the production of high quality. In his words, Armenia has another advantage as well, that is the low price of labor force.
