MosJan Posted June 19, 2002 Report Share Posted June 19, 2002 DIAMOND ENTERPRISE FULFILLS COMMITMENTS http://www.azg.am/IMAGE/200211301.jpg President Robert Kocharian visited the re-launched ‘Almast’ diamond processing OJSC couple of days ago. The ‘International Business Center’ company purchase most part of the enterprise’s stocks recently, and the plant now produces and synthesizes diamond dust, which is used in different tools’ production. The enterprise also plans to produce such tools in the future. At present the number one task of the enterprise is to win the international market. For the beginning the main market for ‘Almast’ enterprise will be Russia, Iran being the second in the list. Also the company has contacts with Bulgaria and a representation in France. The ‘International Business Center’ stays loyal to the agreement reached with the Armenian government and will invest 1,3 million USD in the enterprise. At present about 270 people work in ‘Almast’, with an average salary of 80 USD. The employees said that their wage arrears for last two years were all paid off. Also the company plans to increase the volumes of its productions by 20-30 percent each month and open 50 more jobs by the end of the current year, at the same time raising the average salary up to 100 USD. The ‘International Business Center’ also implements investments programs in couple of more enterprises of Armenia. President Kocharian got acquainted with the works of the enterprise, and expressed its satisfaction concerning its operation, reminding that four years ago the enterprise had big debts, whereas today all of them are paid off. Noting the successful activity of the plant, Kocharian stressed that the privatizing of the state enterprises is a correct policy. Kocharian also said that already next year the enterprise will have its considerable contribution in the gross domestic products’ indices. Concerning the machinery and electro-technical sector of Armenia, president Kocharian said that the state seriously deals with the problems the sphere faces today, assuring that by the end of this year notable progress will be registered in the sector.
