man
Sixty-eighth General Assembly [of UN]Third Committee40th Meeting5 November 2013Self-Determination Integral to Basic Human Rights, Fundamental Freedoms, Third Committee Told as It Concludes General DiscussionFor Detail: http://www.un.org/News/Press/docs/2013/gashc4085.doc.htmFrom the report "The right to self-determination was an integral element of basic human rights and fundamental freedoms, the Third Committee (Social, Humanitarian and Cultural) heard today as it concluded its general discussion on that subject" and of course there were two speakers representing Armenia and Azerbaijan. According to General Assembly report, Tofig Musayev of Azerbaijan "emphasized the critical need to pay greater attention to persistent racial prejudice and negative stereotypes, hate speech by public officials and media, and violent attacks on groups with a 'view to creating ethnically homogenous societies'”. MAN: However he did not mention how Azerbaijan did this exact policy in Nakhchivan and went further, after killing and expelling the Armenians living there, there is now not a single Armenian in Nakhchivan . Azerbaijan did not stop there, it went destroying the Armenian churches there, in addition to Armenian monuments and even the graveyards that were captured by video red-handed, that is in the act of the destroying. All things Armenian in Nakhichivan was razed to ground. And Azerbaijan plans to do the same in Nagorno-Karabakh as soon they are able to get their hands on it, Knowing full well that UN is powerless and can do nothing about it...the aim of Azerbaijan is now to put their hands on Artsakh and let UN be damned afterward. Where was the General Assembly of UN when the Armenians of Nakhchivan were eliminated and Armenianism destroyed there? Where were the powerful forces of NATO of the "civilized" West? There were nowhere to be found or open their mouths therefore they do not have the right to dictate now on Armenians what to do in regard to Artsakh. If they love the Azeris so much and want to experience nighmares let them bring the Azeris to their own respective countries and let them rule over them. From the report "The representative of Armenia, responding to the statement by the delegate from Azerbaijan, said that intervention was intended to distort and misrepresent the struggle of the peoples of Nagorno-Karabakh and their right to self-determination. Azerbaijan was occupying the region, forcing its people to become refugees and internally displaced persons. Azerbaijan was claiming something it did not own, he added."The representative of Azerbaijan said..."under the Soviet legal system, the unlawfulness of any attempt either to unify Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia or to ensure its secession from Azerbaijan without that country’s consent had been confirmed at the highest constitutional level [of Soviet Union]. Accordingly, Azerbaijan was entitled to independence within its Soviet-era territorial boundaries, he said."Man: Artsakh never was made an integral part of Azerbaijan by the Soviet Union. It was a separate autonomous Armenian province put locally under the administration of Azerbaijan and externally administered by a corrupt-to-its-bones Soviet era Kremlin. This does not make Artsakh a part of Azerbaijan, the Kremlin intended that situation for a temporary basis and not forever. Moreover the Armenian people of Artsakh were never counseled or given the option of SELF-DETERMINATION by the Soviet Union; all was done AGAINST their will and wishes. It was forced upon them: You better agree and be silence OR ELSE...Hence Azerbaijan violated, persecuted and oppressed the Armenian population of Artsakh for decades and kept that autonomous province in backward state and condition in all spheres. Her Armenian population never wanted to be linked with Azerbaijan, and protested from the start, but were not allowed to be free on their own by the mighty rule and the armies of the Soviet Union. When Soviet Union collapsed Azerbaijan was the FIRST to attack that Armenian province with the intention of subjecting them to genocide and expelling the survivors as exiles. What Armenia and Artsakh did WAS LEGITIMATE SELF-DEFENSE. Azerbaijan lost the war and Artsakh was entitled to her long sought freedom. It was a matter (and still is) of survival for the people of Artsakh. Edited November 10, 2013 by man
man
Also no mention was made by Tofig Musayev of Azerbaijan who spoke against "violent attacks on groups with a view to creating ethnically homogenous societies" on how they, the Azeris, totally cleaned Baku and the surrounding towns of their almost half a million Armenian population, terrorizing the Armenians with massacres and then expelling them without any compensation or reimbursement for their properties; while the Azeris of Armenia, in the thousands, who went willingly and without violence from Yerevan and Armenia were compensated monetarily for their properties. As to the few Azeris living in the Armenian Arsakh and many living in surrounding areas (over half a million) they fled for their lives because of the conflict into the areas under the power of Azerbaijan. There was a separation of the population.

man
Yervant1 Jan! Don't worry about that now; worry about yourself, you may pass away any minute...just worry where you will end! You know the way to the gates of Heaven but you have turned your back to God. Return before it's too late...for God forgives while you are on earth but may not forgives once you leave your body in a grave and your spirit looks for a place to nest in. I AM THE WAY, THE DOOR AND TRUTH said Jesus. Speaking about Artsakh and the Azeri Tartars whom the West will invite soon to rule over them..here is a recent article Armenian heritage, culture and history being distorted in Azerbaijan, Armenian FM tells UNESCO11-11-2013Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia participated in 37th session of UNESCO General Conference which is dedicated to summarizing the work of the Organization during the last two years and discussing the main directions of the upcoming activities. In his statement Minister Nalbandian particularly mentioned that Armenia attaches great importance to the goal of UNESCO in encouraging intercultural dialogue, understanding and tolerance. Minister Nalbandian stated: “Since last May Armenia has assumed the Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe making fight against xenophobia, hate-speech and intolerance its key priorities. In an era when the protection and promotion of human rights are considered to be the underpinning concept for the civilized world, intolerance towards the values of civilization belonging to others, damaging or destroying cultural or religious heritage intentionally, consistently, repeatedly, must be condemned with the same resolve and determination as violence against people.”As the Minister noted the destruction by Azerbaijanis in Nakhijevan of thousands of delicately carved cross stones by the Armenian masters, dating from the 9th to the 16th centuries, is a vivid manifestation of such crime. “Several thousands of these giant medieval sculptures were bulldozed under the Azerbaijani government’s watchful eyes and this area was turned into a military ground in a government sanctioned operation. The 16th International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) General Assembly resolution regretfully stated with regard to this vandalism: “this heritage that once enjoyed its worthy place among the treasures of the world’s heritage can no longer be transmitted today to future generations. Our numerous calls for sending international fact-finding missions to Nakhijevan, as well as attempts by a number of international organizations and countries have been either ignored or rejected by the Azerbaijani side.”- Minister Nalbandian stressed. “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UNESCO Convention against Discrimination in Education state that “Education shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups”. Taking into consideration UNESCO’s unique role in the sphere of education, we call upon the Organization to create within its educational programs some sort of an overview mechanism that will examine and evaluate the textbooks of the member-states, especially history and social sciences textbooks, with a special emphasis on exclusion of racism or xenophobia. The Armenian heritage, culture and history, after lasting continuously for more than thirty centuries are nowadays being distorted and altered in Azerbaijan. In this country the rewriting of its history is continued by means of misappropriation or annihilation of the traces of other cultures on their territory, or even more, by privatizing the cultural heritage of the neighboring nations. A country that appeared on the political map of the world less than a hundred years ago has territorial and cultural claims towards a country and a people the several millenniums’ history of which is recorded from the ancient times,”- the Foreign Minister stated.
