Harut
just now another thing came to my mind.but i was lazy to search the old topics to find the right place.so i'm posting here.--i remember reading here and a lot of other places that the ending "ian" in last names of Armenians have Persian origin. most of the people who said that claim that "i" means something and "an" means something and they together give some meaningful sense to last names. (sorry for lack of info.)some of them gave the example of Persian last names ending with "i" or even "ian" but now consider this.in Armenian we pronounce the ending "yan" and not "ian" as in "Armenian".in fact most Western Armenians write their last names with "ean", which is farther away from "ian". then where this theory of Persian "ian" comes from? please, correct me i'm being wrong here.
