FRENCH PAINTER IMPRESSED BY KARABAGH ACHIEVEMENTS

STEPANAKERT, OCTOBER 1, ARMENPRESS A well-known French-Armenian painter Richard Jeranian, who was in Yerevan on a two-week visit to join the 1700th anniversary events said he was impressed by the achievements made in Nagorno Karabagh.

"I made sure of it during a two-day visit to Karabagh", he said to Armenpress.

Jeranian was among other Diaspora Armenians who were invited to take part in the opening ceremony of the two sections of South-North highway in the regions of Hadrut and Martakert (Karabagh).

"I wished to see Karabagh since 1957, when I first came to Armenia. After it I came to Armenia every two years, but Karabagh was a closed location for me. I am happy to have seen such wonderful places as Gandzasar and Amaras, to have been acquainted with honest and hard-working people", the painter said.

Jeranian, who is above 80, intends to come to Karabagh again, to paint this wonderful country and then open a private exhibition.

Richard Jeranian was born in Sebastia (now in Turkey), then his family moved to France. He opened a number of exhibitions in Yerevan, Gyumri, Dilijan. His paintings are kept in the National Gallery of Armenia, modern art museum and among private collections.
