AZERI SIDE'S ACCUSATIONS ABSURD: ARMEN ISAGULOV

 

APRIL 11. The Azeri side's accusations that the territory of Nagorny Artsax is used for drug transit are absurd, NKR Minister of the Interior Armen Isagulov told a news conference today. According to him, Azerbaijan's accusations can be regarded as a way of drawing attention to the Artsax problem in the contest of struggle against international terrorism and as an attempt to take advantage of the situation. The minister stated consistent and uncompromising struggle against the growing of drug-containing plants is being waged in the country. He pointed out that large areas under hemp were discovered and destroyed in the Martuni region as part of the "Poppy" operation. The minister expressed confidence that in Soviet times the authorities of Azerbaijan were deliberately not fighting against the growing of drug-containing plants in Nagorny Artsax.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ NKR's minister of internal affairs has stated today at the press conference that the accusations of Azerbaijani part of using Nagorno Artsax's territory for drug trafficking are absurd. According to him, such accusations are nothing else but the way to set the world community against Armenians, as the world community perceives anything related to drugs very negatively. According to the minister, this evil has been struggled against seriously in Artsax since becoming independent. When Artsax was included in Azerbaijan's structure, in the minister's words, Baku authorities did not take any measures to prevent the drug spread on purpose in order to promote the development of drug addiction among Armenians.
