It is a crying shame that most touristic programs in Armenia do not lst the Castles. All only list the so called Churches, some of which don’t even qualify to be named so. They must know that the Average Diapora/ Amerika Hay knows nothing about Armenia except a wall to wall land of so called “churches”.

ՀՌՈՄԿԼԱ

 

Remember that in the Armenian words and names beginning in the R/RR will be preceded with the letter H or U as in H-rom or U-rum. U-russ(Rouss, U-rben. U-ruben (Ruben).

Probably inherited from thanonlanguage.-

Even if today we freely write and pronounce Ruben /Roupen, Robert, not Oro-bert, Raffi, not U-raffi.

Հռոմկլա - Հռոմ-Քար, Կլայն Հռոմեական: Բերդաքաղաք Եփրատեսիա նահանգում, Եփրատ գետի աջ ափին, Փարզման (այժմ` Մերզումեն) վտակի միախառնման տեղում, սեպաձև հրվանդանի վրա: Շրջափակված էր դժվարամատչելի ժայռերով, երեք կողմից ողողվում էր Եփրատի ու Փարզմանի ջրերով, ուներ քառաշարք պարիսպ ու աշտարակաձև, երկհարկանի մաշիկուլներով 7 դարպաս: Ժայռերին խարսխված բարձր պարիսպներն ամրացված էին ուղղանկյուն կտրվածքի աշտարակներով: Բերդի ներսում պահպանվել են աշխարհիկ շենքերի ավերակներ: Հռոմկլան հռչակված էր ձիթենու, թզենու, պիստակենու ծառերով, ձմերուկի, սեխի, դդմի մշակությամբ:

Հռոմկլայի հիմնադրման մասին տեղեկություններ չեն պահպանվել: Բյուզանդական տիրապետության ժամանակ եղել է կարևոր գետանց և սահմանապահ բերդ (այստեղից էլ նրա Հռոմկլա` հոռոմների կամ հույների բերդ անունը):

Rumkale was a powerful fortress on the river Euphrates, 50 km west of Şanlıurfa. It is called Hromkla or Kela zêrîn in Kurdish, Qal'ah Rumita in Syriac, Qal'at al-Rum (قلعة الروم) in Arabic, Rumkale in Turkish, Հռոմկլա (Hromkla) in Armenian; the name means "Roman Castle (by extension also Byzantine)" in all cases.
