Yervant1
TURKEY SETS KURDS AND ARMENIANS AGAINST EACH OTHERIt is possible that the price of Bashar Assad's rule in Syria will bethe emergence of Kurdish autonomy on part of the Syrian territory. Itis already becoming reality, and the question is whether it has beenset up at the price of toppling Assad or upon his approval. Assadstated that he will not allow collapse of the state. However, in 2014his term will end.Recently Turkey was visited by the leader of the main Syrian Kurdishparty Partiya Yekîtiya Demokrat (PYD) Salex Muslim. The establishmentof the Kurdish autonomy in Syria was discussed. Being formally against,Turkey supported formation of such autonomy in Syria and Iraq. Onthese days the prime minister of the government of Kurdistan (KRG)Nechirvan Barzani will visit Turkey. The Turkish government still hopes that the Kurdish movement willbe limited to Syria and Iraq and will not affect Turkey. Although inAnkara they continue to fight, they understand that fragmentation ofthe country and emergence of Kurdistan is becoming more realistic.Ankara is preparing Plan B, latently making Kurds think about autonomyin the territory of Western Armenia. Turkey will thereby set Kurdsand Armenians against each other.Armenia does not express its stance on the possibility of establishmentof the Kurdish state and Turkey's fragmentation. The only officialreaction is Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan's ambitiousstatement. He said that Armenia is likely to put forth territorialclaims to Turkey. In a month after this statement the MFA of Armenia tried to alleviateit, repeating that Armenia is ready (still) to improve relations withTurkey without preconditions. Obviously, however, in case the Kurdishmovement shifts to Turkey, Armenia will put forth preconditions, and the international community will not object.Naira Hayrumyan 13:46 31/07/2013 Story from Lragir.am News:http://www.lragir.am/index/eng/0/comments/view/30590
