Dzhokhar Tsarnaev charged with using weapon of mass destruction at Boston Marathon

Updated at 6:50 p.m. ET]

Terror suspect Dzhokhar "Jahar" Tsarnaev was charged on Monday with two federal counts of using a weapon of mass destruction to kill, injure and cause widespread damage at the Boston Marathon a week ago. If convicted, the 19-year-old could face the death penalty.

Three people were killed and more than 200 others wounded when two powerful homemade bombs exploded near the race’s finish line.

The bed-ridden Tsarnaev was informed of the charges and read his rights in his hospital room Monday morning. The college student is in serious condition at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he is under heavy police guard.

Tsarnaev, who is sedated and unable to speak, suffered apparent gunshot wounds to the head, neck, hand and legs during firefights with police before his capture Friday night, authorities said. His older brother Tamerlan Tsanraev, who investigators say was part of the terror attack, died in a firefight with police during their escape attempt.

In a 10-page criminal complaint against Dzhokhar, an FBI agent says investigators have overwhelming photographic evidence showing the brothers placing two backpack bombs in the crowd at the race finish.

A large pyrotechnic and clothing Dzhokhar wore during the terror attack were later found in his dorm room at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, according to the charges.

The federal complaint sheds no light on a motive for the attack. Records show the Dzhokhar has been assigned three public defenders.

Investigators say the Tsarnaev brothers began preparing for an apparent escape attempt just hours after the FBI sought the public’s help by releasing photos of them at the bombing scene.

Shortly before midnight Thursday, one of the brothers carjacked a man at gunpoint, according to the criminal complaint.

“Did you hear about the Boston explosion?” the complaint alleges the carjacker said. “I did that.”

The complaint goes on to allege that the brothers threw improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at patrol officers who spotted them in the stolen car and gave chase. Bomb-making materials similar to what was recovered in the marathon aftermath were later found inside the abandoned getaway car, according to the charges.

“The presumption of innocence is pretty tough in this case,” said Jimmy Ardoin, a veteran criminal defense attorney who read the criminal complaint at the request of Yahoo News.

“On its face, it seems pretty strong,” Ardoin said. “Although once you get into court, you never know what will be admitted into evidence and what won’t.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled for May 30. Despite calls from some Republicans to try Dzhokhar in a military court like a war criminal, White House press secretary Jay Carney said he would not be held as an enemy combatant. It is not known if Boston authorities will file cases against him in state court as well.

The federal government has not revealed if it will seek the death penalty. But in a statement, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said, “We will hold those who are responsible for these heinous acts accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”

“Thanks to the valor of state and local police, the dedication of federal law enforcement and intelligence officials, and the vigilance of members of the public, we’ve once again shown that those who target innocent Americans and attempt to terrorize our cities will not escape from justice,” Holder said.

The Tsarnaev brothers, who were born in the former Russian territory known as Kyrgyzstan and are of Chechen descent, lived in Cambridge, Mass., for several years. Dzhokhar became a naturalized American citizen last year.

According to investigators, the carjack victim told police that the brothers spoke to one another in a foreign language while he was held hostage. The victim managed to escape on foot when the brothers got out of the car at a gas station.

Did 'Misha' influence Tsarnaevs? In Watertown, doubts

http://bit.ly/11W0hSu

Tsarnaev's uncle in Maryland, Ruslan Tsarni, and his former brother-in-law in Kazakhstan, Elmirza Khozhugov, said the man was an Armenian convert who was heavyset, bald, around 30, and had a long reddish beard.

Bullshit alert right there.

It says that the acquaintance who informed him about the radicalism was of Armenian descent.

But if that's the case, why would he need to "stress" his ethnicity?

no Armenak jan his words are - there is someone who brainwashed him, some newly convert to Islam.i would like to stress ... of Armenian dissent this are the specific words ...

looking at this he is calling the convert and the brainwash-er an Armenian.

Prominent US attorney ridicules media allegations about ‘Armenian’ trace in Boston bombings

Mark Geragos, a well-known Armenian-American criminal defense attorney, has described the ongoing speculation that an ethnic Armenian ‘Moslem convert’ could have been involved in masterminding the recent deadly bombings in Boston as “ludicrous” and "insulting" to Armenians as he spoke to CNN on Thursday.

Geragos, a 55-year-old specialist who has represented the interests of the late pop star Michael Jackson, actress Winona Ryder and other celebrities, told the news channel that as an Armenian he wanted to comment on the allegations made by media in the wake of a controversial statement by an uncle of the suspected perpetrators of the attack, that an Armenian Moslem convert named Misha was the guiding influence in their developing radicalized views.

Three people were killed and 282 were injured when two bombs exploded at the finish line during the Boston Marathon on April 15. One of the bombing suspects, 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was fatally injured in a shootout with the police in Watertown, Massachusetts, three days later. His 19-year-old brother Dzhokhar, who first managed to escape, was caught the next day after an unprecedented manhunt with thousands of police officers involved. The motives of the two brothers, who are ethnic Chechens, lived in Kyrgyzstan, and moved to the United States in the early 2000s, remain unknown.

“This whole speculation about a recent convert named Misha, which, by the way, is not an Armenian name, is insulting to Armenians everywhere, who, by the way, are the first Christian nation,” said Geragos, who also urged media to be more critical when passing around such information as ‘gospel’.

The prominent representative of the Armenian-American community, which has a sizable presence in Massachusetts as well, reminded of the significance of the current week for Armenians around the world as the 98th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was marked on April 24.

“1.5 million Christian Armenians were wiped out by Moslem Ottoman Turks. So, the idea that there is some convert from Christianity to Moslem who’s doing it, who doesn’t even have an Armenian name, is ludicrous to begin with,” stressed Geragos, suggesting that the bomber suspects’ uncle pass a sobriety test -- “Because I think this guy was under the influence of something.”

Meanwhile, CNN reported more information today about the possible identity of Misha. It said he could be an Armenian from Azerbaijan. Hundreds of Armenians fleeing ethnic violence in Azerbaijan were granted asylum as refugees in the United States in the early 1990s. Many of them settled down in and around Boston.

MadCow Morning News: Uncle Tsarnaev, son-in-law of high-ranking official in CIA made a mistake, pointing to ‘‘Misha’’

The uncle of the two suspected Boston bombers in last week’s attack, Ruslan Tsarni, was married to the daughter of former top CIA official Graham Fuller, reads the article by Daniel Hopsicker titled “Boston bombers’ uncle married daughter of top CIA official” published on MadCow Morning News.

The Author notes that the discovery that Uncle Ruslan Tsarni had spy connections that go far deeper than had been previously known is ironic, especially since the mainstream media's focus yesterday was on a feverish search to find who might have recruited the Tsarnaev brothers.

The chief suspect was a red-haired Armenian exorcist. They were fingering a suspect who may not, in fact, even exist, the author writes.

The article reads that Ruslan Tsarni married the daughter of former top CIA official Graham Fuller, who spent 20 years as operations officer in Turkey, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. In 1982 Fuller was appointed the National Intelligence Officer for Near East and South Asia at the CIA, and in 1986, under Ronald Reagan, he became the Vice-Chairman of the National Intelligence Council, with overall responsibility for national level strategic forecasting.

Sometime in the early 1990’s, while she was a graduate student in North Carolina, and he was in law school at Duke, Ruslan Tsarnaev met and married Samantha Ankara Fuller, the daughter of Graham and Prudence Fuller of Rockville Maryland. Her middle name suggests a reference to one of her father’s CIA postings.

At the time of their marriage, Ruslan Tsarni was known as Ruslan Tsarnaev, the same last name as his nephews Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the alleged bombers. It is unknown when he changed his last name to Tsarni.

On a more ominous note, Graham Fuller was listed as one of the American Deep State rogues on Sibel Edmonds' State Secrets Privilege Gallery. Edmonds explained it featured subjects of FBI investigations she became aware of during her time as an FBI translator. It turned out that the criminal activities were being protected by claims of State Secrets.

A story about a Chechenoik uncle pairing up with a top CIA official who once served as CIA Station Chief in Kabul sounds like a pitch for a bad movie, but the two men may have been in business together. Thus in 1995, Tsarnaev incorporated the Congress of Chechen International Organizations in Maryland.

The author of the article notes that uncle Ruslan’s spy connections go far deeper than was already known, which was that he spent two years working in Kazakhstan for USAID.

Under the headline “Did 'Misha' influence Tsarnaevs? In Watertown, doubts,” USA Today reported: “Misha. A new name has emerged in the Boston Marathon bombing case—one familiar to the family of the two young men accused of the atrocity and apparently of interest to the Russian and American security services as well.”

Ruslan Tsarni was the first to bring up the supposed man's supposed name. “Or rather, he brought up a first name: Misha. But it was enough.” According to Uncle Ruslan, Misha was the man who over a considerable period of time had radicalized Tamerlan. Tsarni described Misha as being "chubby, a big guy, big mouth presenting himself with some kind of abilities as exorcist . . .

having some part-time job in one of the stores, not married. “All of the qualifications of a loser,” the author writes.

It seemed strange, then, that in contrast to his “you are there” verbal picture of the man, even with all his supposed concerns, and given his high level of education and abundant resources Ruslan had somehow never found out just who the bad guy was.

The author writes that then Uncle Ruslan made a clear miss-step, by claiming that Misha, an Armenian convert to Islam, had a huge influence on the elder brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev. Describing him as an "Armenia exorcist, Tsarni said, “Somehow he just took his brain.”

The author notes that the Armenians are a deeply-rooted Christian community, which is proud of the fact that their country was the first in the world to adopt Christianity as state religion in 301 AD. Moreover this is the week every year when they remember the Armenian Holocaust, when as many as 1,000,000 Armenians were slaughtered by Turkish Muslims.

The author writes that in the large and close-knit Boston Armenian community, a red-bearded Armenian named Misha becoming a radicalized Muslim would stand out. "I've never heard of him, nor has anyone that I know," Hilda Avedissian, executive director at the Armenian Cultural & Educational Centre.

The report reveals that the bomber’s Uncle, made famous for his outspoken condemnation of his nephew’s which aired repeatedly on international news networks, is a well-connected oil executive who at one point worked for a Halliburton shell company used as a front to obtain oil contracts from the Kazakh State. Ruslon Tsarni was implicated in an investigation involving the laundering and theft of $6 billion. “But everybody loves Uncle Ruslon. At least most of America’s mainstream media does,” writes the author and adds that there has, to date, been no speculation at all about whether an uncle of the men suspected of the bombing who had been involved in international intrigue at the hightest levels, and who married the daughter of a top CIA official, might warrant a closer look.

U.S. media found ‘‘Misha’’: He cooperates with FBI and his involvement in Boston bombings is not confirmed

As the investigation of the Boston Marathon bombings continues, one of the more clouded aspects is the tale of “Misha,” a mysterious US-based Islamist who has been accused by members of the Tsarnaev family of radicalizing Tamerlan Tsarnaev, Christian Caryl’s article in The New York Review of Books reads.

“It started in 2009. And it started right there, in Cambridge,” Tamerlan’s uncle, Ruslan Tsarni tells. “This person just took his brain. He just brainwashed him completely.” These accusations set off a frenzied search for what some reports have called an Islamic Svengali, and over the past few days, the FBI has said it has located and has been talking to “Misha,” though his identity has remained unknown.

“Today I was able to meet “Misha,” whose real name is Mikhail Allakhverdov. I found Allakverdov at his home in Rhode Island, in a lower middle class neighborhood, where he lives in modest, tidy apartment with his elderly parents,” the author writes and notes that confirmed he was a convert to Islam and that he had known Tamerlan Tsarnaev, but he flatly denied any part in the bombings. “I wasn’t his teacher. If I had been his teacher, I would have made sure he never did anything like this,” Allakhverdov said.

A thirty-nine-year-old man of Armenian-Ukrainian descent, Allakhverdov is of medium height and has a thin, reddish-blond beard. “Along with his parents, his American girlfriend was there, and we sat together in a tiny living room that abuts the family kitchen,” the author writes.

Allakhverdov said he had known Tamerlan in Boston, where he lived until about three years ago, and has not had any contact with him since. Moreover he said he had never met the family members who are now accusing him of radicalizing Tamerlan. He also confirmed he had been interviewed by the FBI and that he has cooperated with the investigation:

“I’ve been cooperating entirely with the FBI. I gave them my computer and my phone and everything I wanted to show I haven’t done anything. And they said they are about to return them to me. And the agents who talked told me they are about to close my case,” Allakhverdov says.

An FBI spokesman in Boston declined to comment on an ongoing case. Allakverdov’s statements, however, seemed to bear out recent reports that the FBI have not found any connection between “Misha” and the bomb plot, the author says.

One question is why members of the Tsarnaev family have made accusations about Allakverdov. “A close friend of the family in Boston said that Misha was not known to have visited Tamerlan at home. I interviewed Allakhverdov in Russian and it seems likely that in whatever contact the two men had, they would have spoken Russian,” the author writes and notes that his father is an Armenian Christian and his mother is an ethnic Ukrainian. The family had lived in Baku, Azerbaijan, but had left in the early 1990s for the United States to escape growing persecution of Armenian Christians there.

“We love this country. We never expected anything like this to happen to us,” Allakhverdov’s father said.

Moles, informants and double agents in Boston Marathon bombings

The bizarre circumstances and dubious names in the Boston Marathon bombings have raised many questions that have yet to be answered by government officials and journalists.

The most mysterious character is ‘Misha’ whom Ruslan Tsarni, uncle of the Boston bombers, described as an Armenian convert to Islam who had supposedly brainwashed and radicalized Tamerlan, the elder of the suspected Tsarnaev brothers. Ruslan described ‘Misha’ as a heavy-set bald exorcist with a long reddish beard!

Initially, no one could find ‘Misha.’ While his alleged affiliation with Tamerlan and Armenian origin was prominently and repeatedly mentioned in the media, it took the authorities 10 days to announce that they knew who ‘Misha’ was and that he had no connection to the terrorist acts!

Last Sunday, Christian Caryl of the New York Review of Books, was finally able to locate and interview the elusive ‘Misha’ in his Rhode Island home. Even though Caryl disclosed that ‘Misha,’ a native of Baku, Azerbaijan, is the son of an Armenian father and a Ukrainian mother, and that his last name is Allakhverdov, the media continues to refer to him as an ‘Armenian.’ Notably, neither Caryl nor anyone else mentions the fact that ‘Misha’ or ‘Mikayel’ -- a common Christian name -- cannot be the name of a Muslim! Moreover, after the break up of the Soviet Union, many Muslim Azerbaijanis applied for asylum in Europe and the United States, under the pretext that they were persecuted Christian Armenians! It is odd that ‘Misha,’ supposedly a Christian, would flee from Islamic persecution in Baku, only to convert to Islam in America!

Interestingly, Caryl reports that ‘Misha’ had nothing to do with the Boston bombings, which is exactly what government investigators had earlier announced. Could it be that US officials had put Caryl in contact with ‘Misha’ in order to confirm their declaration of his innocence, leading some analysts to speculate that ‘Misha’ may have been an FBI informant whose cover is now being meticulously protected!

The next suspicious character is Uncle Ruslan who has accused ‘Misha the Armenian’ of having a powerful influence over Tamerlan. Ruslan himself has had a checkered past, having worked for USAID and several Caspian Sea energy companies, while married to Samantha Ankara Fuller, daughter of Graham Fuller, a retired top CIA official. Because of Ruslan’s close relationship to the bombers’ family, his employment with Central Asian oil companies including Halliburton, and marriage to the daughter of a high-ranking CIA official, some analysts have suggested that the enigmatic uncle warrants a closer look.

Last week, prominent Armenian-American attorney Mark Geragos blasted Ruslan Tsarni on CNN, suggesting that "somebody needs to give this uncle a field sobriety test, because I think this guy is under the influence of something." Geragos was furious that Ruslan had linked the Boston bombers to the ‘Armenian Misha,’ while Armenians worldwide were commemorating the 98th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide! Ruslan then tried to reach Geragos by telephone, seeking "to clarify" his earlier statement. Geragos refused to take his call.

Some analysts suggest that Tamerlan may have been recruited by the Russian secret services (FSB) to spy on Chechen extremists during his six-month stay in Chechnya and Dagestan last year. Having informed the FBI and CIA of Tamerlan’s links to radical Islamist groups, and not receiving a satisfactory response from US officials, it could be that the FSB took matters into its own hands and recruited the unemployed and penniless young Chechen during his lengthy stay in Russia.

Other analysts speculate that Tamerlan may have been an informant for the US government. Such a supposition is much more credible than assuming that the FBI and CIA were too incompetent or too busy to conduct a thorough investigation of Tamerlan’s background after the Russian FSB brought his name to their attention. It could be that US authorities knew Tamerlan only too well and may have even encouraged him to travel to Russia as their mole in Jihadist circles.

Finally, there are those who believe that Tamerlan ended up betraying both the Russian and American intelligent services, deciding instead to support radical Islamic groups, "out of anger over US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan," according to his younger brother Dzhokhar’s jailhouse confession.

Of course, these speculations are advanced by various analysts based on preliminary information, pending a thorough Congressional investigation to uncover the true facts. Americans killed and maimed in the Boston bombings deserve an honest answer!

3 pals of Boston Marathon bombing suspect charged with coverup

By Pete Williams, Richard Esposito, Michael Isikoff and Tracy Connor, NBC News

Three college friends of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were accused Wednesday of removing evidence from his dorm room as new details about the case emerged in court papers.

Criminal complaints against the trio revealed that Tsarnaev cut his long hair after the April 15 attack but before the FBI released his photo and that he allegedly told friends a month earlier that he knew “how to make a bomb.”

The court papers also suggest that the 19-year-old suspect was practically blasé when one of the friends texted to say he looked like the man in the FBI photos of the bomb suspect.

Among his replies: ‘lol,” according to the complaints.

conflicting statement about whether that happened before or after Tsarnaev had been publicly named as the bombing suspect following a night of bloody mayhem.

As the allegations against them were unveiled, Tsarnaev’s three friends appeared in Boston Federal Court Wednesday afternoon. None of the charges suggested they had prior knowledge of the dual bombings that killed three and wounded more than 200 near the finish line of the race.

This May 1, 2013 FBI handout image released in a criminal complaint, shows fireworks tubes found in a backpack that was disposed of by friends of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Tazhayakov and Kadyrbayev — who are from Kazakhstan and were detained more than a week ago on immigration charges — did not seek bail and were ordered held until a May 14 hearing.

Phillipos is being held until a detention hearing Monday. As he was read his rights, Federal Judge Marianne Bowler admonished him, saying, “I suggest you pay attention to me rather than looking down.”

Outside the courthouse, Harlan Protass, a lawyer for Tazhayakov, said his client “has cooperated fully with the authorities and looks forward to the truth coming out in this case.”

Robert Stahl, a lawyer for Kadyrbayev, said the college sophomore "absolutely denies" allegations of a coverup and was “shocked and horrified” by the bombing. He said his client told investigators about ditching the items from the dorm room but “did not know those items were involved in a bombing.”

Although only Tazhayakov is currently enrolled, all three men knew Tsarnaev from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth.

The narrative outlined in the court papers begins about a month ago when, according to Tazhayakov, Tsarnaev told him and Kadyrbayev that he "knew how to make a bomb.”

Kadyrbayev last saw Tsarnaev on April 17, two days after the bombing, at his dorm room and noticed that he had given himself a short haircut. They chatted outside the dorm, the complaint said.

Little more than 24 hours later, the FBI released photos and video of two men wanted in the bombing. The suspects were not yet identified as Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his older brother Tamerlan.

At least two of the three friends thought one of the men in the pictures looked like Tsarnaev, and Kadyrbayev texted him to say so, the FBI said.

This still image is taken from a YouTube video made by Robel Phillipos.

Tsarnaev fired off a flurry of texts, including, "lol," "you better not text me" and "come to my room and take whatever you want," the court papers said.

The trio then met at Tsarnaev's dorm room, where they learned he had already left and were let in by his roommate.

After watching a movie, they spotted a dark backpack containing seven red tubes of fireworks that had been emptied, and Kadyrbayev decided to take it, according to one of the complaints.

They also took a laptop – now turned over to the FBI, according to Kadyrbayev's attorney — because they didn't want to arouse the roommate's suspicions about the backpack, the document said.

After leaving the dorm, the three friends "started to freak out" because they realized Tsarnaev was wanted in the bombing, Phillipos said, according to the feds.

They then "collectively decided to throw the backpack and fireworks into the trash because they did not want Tsarnaev to get in trouble," Kadyrbayev told agents, according to the complaint.

Kadyrbayev allegedly put the items in a large trash bag and tossed it into a dumpster near his off-campus apartment.

The suspects' statements clashed on whether that happened the night of the April 18, before Tsarnaev was formally identified as the accused bomber, or the morning after – an important point if their defense is that they had no idea the items could be evidence.

Tsarnaev never returned to his dorm room. Authorities say that after the FBI put their pictures out, he and Tamerlan executed a campus police officer, stole a car at gunpoint and led police on a wild chase.

It ended with Tamerlan dead after a firefight and Dzhokhar captured in a boat in a Watertown, Mass., backyard. Dzhokhar, who was wounded, has been charged with using a weapon of mass destruction.

Law enforcement officials have told NBC News that Dzhokhar told them during questioning he and his brother wanted to defend Islam after the American wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Investigators have been trying to determine if pair – ethnic Chechens who had lived in the U.S. for more than a decade — they received assistance from anyone else in the U.S. or abroad.

Tsarnaev friends had money and 'Terrorista #1' license plate, classmate says

By Miranda Leitsinger, Tom Winter and Erin McClam, NBC News

Two of the three people newly arrested in the Boston Marathon investigation are Kazakh friends of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, and one drove a BMW with a novelty license plate that said “Terrorista #1,” according to people who knew them.

The two were pictured in a 2012 photo with Tsarnaev in Times Square that was posted to VKontakt, the Russian equivalent of Facebook. Authorities say Tsarnaev and his brother, suspected in the marathon attack, discussed driving to New York and setting off more of their explosives there.

The Kazakh men, Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev, were charged Wednesday with conspiring to destroy or hide a laptop belonging to Tsarnaev and a backpack of his containing fireworks.

Another man, Robel Phillipos of Cambridge, Mass., was charged with lying to investigators. All three appeared in federal court in Boston Wednesday afternoon.

Both Kazakh men are 19 and were in the United States on student visas, the Justice Department said.

Stephen Troio, who said he lived on the same dorm floor as the two men during his freshman year in 2011, said that they showed “lack of emotion” and “lack of personality” and that nothing stood out about them but the BMW.

“They did have a lot of money,” Troio told NBC News. “He wrecked like three Beamers and then bought another one.”

Trevor Berry, 20, who took a calculus course with Tazhayakov, said the Kazakh was friendly with Tsarnaev and that the two could be spotted dining together on campus. “They were pretty close as far as I can tell,” he said.

Berry said that Tazhayakov was "much more quiet than Dzhokhar," but was once "really flustered" over a low grade he'd gotten in calculus class.

The two men were taken into custody over immigration violations last week. Kadyrbayev’s lawyer, Robert Stahl, told The Associated Press then that they were horrified by the marathon bombing.

“They can’t even fathom something like this from a kid who seemed to be a typical young college student,” he said.

The two Kazakhs lived at an apartment in New Bedford, Mass., near the campus of the University of Massachusetts’ Dartmouth campus, where Tsarnaev was a student. Last week, investigators scoured a landfill in New Bedford for items that might belong to Tsarnaev, including the laptop and receipts related to the purchase of fireworks.

A neighbor in New Bedford said Wednesday that the Kazakhs were quiet and polite, and would even help carrying groceries inside. They had parties, the neighbor said, including one that police were called to at 3 a.m.

Stahl told the AP that the two men did not see Tsarnaev in the days before or after the marathon attack.

The license plate was a joke gift from friends of Kadyrbayev’s friends, meant to refer to his late-night partying and not his political sentiments, Stahl told the AP. The license plate was pictured in Tsarnaev’s Twitter feed in March.

A Facebook page in the name of Azamat Tazhayakov lists him as a UMass-Dartmouth student and as a member of the Class of 2011 at a Kazakh school, Miras International School Astana. It lists his hometown as Atyrau, says he speaks Russian and lists Rihanna, Beyonce and Enimem as musicians he likes.

A Facebook page in the name of Dias Kadyrbayev shows him vacationing in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and palling around with friends.
