wh00t
By now, the results of the doping tests of the 2001 World Championships held in Antalya, Turkey, have been returned by the appointed laboratories. Of the nearly hundred doping controls effected by the IWF at these Championships, four proved to be positive. All four athletes concerned represented Armenia: Arsen MELIKYAN (77kg)Gagik KHACHATRYAN (85kg)Hakob PILOSYAN (94kg)Rafik CHAKHOYAN (105kg) All four athletes were disqualified and their results deleted. Melikyan and Chakhoyan were suspended for two years each, while Khachatryan and Pilossyan - having committed a repeated offence - were banned for life.In accordance with the IWF Anti-Doping Policy, due to the accumulated number of doping tests, the Armenian Federation was imposed one year of international suspension. Results of the World Championships will now be duly updated and published on the IWF's website.
