Yervant1
Hi arat, welcome to Hyeforum. Since your grandmother told you about your past, why are you so confused what better source than your own grandmother. I'm sure she will tell you everything if not, ask your other family members. Good luck!

Arpa
First off. Dear Arat , welcome. It all depends on the spelling.Yes, you are more confused then me. When will be the day when someone will de-confuse us all?At first it may seem to be a diminution of AraratIt may even be in reference to the River Arax/ Araz,. In the Arabic araz is spelled as araDH/araZ.In the Armenian “arar/arad/arat” has many meanings. You be the judge. Hopefully it does not mean a blemish, a black mark in one’s fame.!. A blemish as in a blemish in one’s fame or a blemish in one’s face.2.It also means plenty.Remember the song Araz, Araz ***hey jan Araz.“Ararartian dasht em gnoum, ARAT arter **indz en mnoum…”**Fields of plenty are waiting for me..*** Is it From the Arabic ardh/field, as in “ardh el rum//erzurum/karin?
