i can give some info on this one.

it was opened for the first time in 1965, on April 24.

i know this because i mom always tells that they were getting ready to go there for the first time, but my uncle was born on the same day.

the constraction was started probably in 1963.

the name Tsitsernakaberd is the name of the hill that the monument is built on.

i used to live right in front of Hamalir. so i spend my childhood in Tsitsernakaberd and Hamalir.

the whole hill was empty, without any trees and animals.

they started the project in beginning of 60s.

first they planted trees. they tried to make it a beautiful park. then the constraction of the monument was started. i don't know the detals but it was on fire once. and there are couple of models of it on the hill, the smaller versions.

then the constraction of Hamalir (complex) was started. i think it's one of the unique and most beautiful buildings in the world.

i can still write a lot about my impressions but i'll stop.

it makes me go to airport and fly back there right away.

Ush lini anush lini.
It is never too late to revive an educational and inspiring subject.
The tower has 4 columns forming 3 windows which in turn have 9 arches,
the top 6 arches form 6 smaller windows that hold the bells, 12 in all
3 in each of the 3 top windows and 1 in each of the bottom ones.
The tower is viewed through a gate formed by statues of winged bulls,
one on either side. The paved approach to the main building and gallery
is lined with 5 huge statues of eagles.
First about the bulls (dzul). In Armenian, just as in many ancient
countries the bull has been held sacred and it is a symbol of courage
and heoism.
The five eagles represent the five celebrated heroes of the Battle
of Sradarapat. They are Cmdr. Daniel Piroumian, captains Dulukhanian,
Pavel Piroumian, Sergo Atanesian, Vardan Jaghinian and Xoren Ikitkhanian.

The bell tower is the most symbolic of all the symbols.

After entering Alexandrapol (Gyumri) in the April of 1918 the Turkish Army of about ten thousand under the command of Vehip ***** crossed the River Arax on to the pali of Ararat on May 22, 1918 with the intention of attacking Erevan, the Aremian military or what was left of it
confronted the Turks, our soldiers were few, but the entire inhabitants of the region joined them, man, woman, child, peasant, citizen , even the clergy with whatever hardware they could lay their hands on. The battle was intense and it lasted 4 days the Turkish army was devstated and rtreated in panic. The Battle of Sradarapat, along with
that at Aparan (Bash Aaparan then) were the two decisive battles that saved Erevan from being forever wiped off the map.
During those 4 days of the battle, upon the order of the then the Principal of the Gevorgian Jemaran at Ejmiatsin and later Catholicos Garegin Hovsepian every church in the Erevan Province (modern Armenia) kept their bells ringing 24 hours a day until the battle was won.
