Harut Posted December 18, 2001 Report Share Posted December 18, 2001 marrying an odar is a big issue among Diasporan-Armenians, but is not that much of a scandal in Armenia.while among others, the nation develops an natural instinct of self-protection. therefore, everything that can harm the integrity and the completness of the nation makes big deal.while that same thing can be viewed as an natural even in Armenia. one reason is that in Armenia Armenians develop as a nation, get new percpectives and views on life. another reason is that this particular incident cannot make much of a differance in Armenia.but yet, outside of Armenia, Armenians don't develop as Armenians, but try to remain Armenians. and for that reason they don't easily accapt anything new.there is also another thing involved here, which i call "Fixed Point", that is the image of one's country and nation that one has at the time of leaving his country. those images are fixed and don't change much during one's lifetime outside of his country. but this is another story.in conclusion, it is worthy to say that one is free to marry anyone he/she wants but there is this barrier that needs to be overcome. anyways, i hope my little essay makes sanse. good luck Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
