CANNIBALISM: ARMENIAN STYLE

In the Armenian community the financilly strong "devour" the weak. Rarely do we see the soldarity we saw last year toward the passing of Genocide Resolutions. Instead of working as a team, we place our selfish self-interests above what is good for the group. Money talks, but it's message is not always to the benefit of the community.

You see, I might not even disagree with your opinions, but they are similar to saying "well, why don´t we end hunger in the world ?", "why should we have wars", blah, blah.

What is your point ? The Armenian diaspora is dying. Better refer to AB as the chronicler of death.

All you have to do is contrast us with the Jews. Similarities in the history, but not in approach. Difference between success and failure. When my Jewish friends from families of moderate income married their girlfriends the were respected and their years in medical school were accepted by their spouses who learned to live with less during those years. With us it is "put then down." And to think that despite being of relatively meager means that one generation back my family was one of the wealthiest Armenian families. Our community is just mean to one another. This attitude goes for most endeavors. Jews despite disagreements, stick together like glue. Armenians don't miss an opportunity to tear another Armenian down, even their own relatives.

I agree that Armenians have this tendency. But it is interesting to note that outsiders do not perceive us as such. Can't it be that in the case of the Jews things are not so rosy as they appear to be ? I have so many times heard about how "united" we Armenians are.

In the US the jackals are winning, but it is only temporary. I was fooled once before, even supported the elder Bush. I learned my lessons the hard way. If this yar's vote is any indication in the Northeast and West, the Democrats won except for some moderate Republicans. And if either Davis or Riordan wins the California Governorship, the Pat Robertson/Rousas Rushdoony people will be out in the cold where they belong. Now go with your Southern Baptist friends and smoke that Martin.

Should I laugh or just shake my head?

No. There is nothing that I would like to enter in coalition with you.

As far as the negative is concerned, isn't it ironic that someone with a Username "hagarag" (meaning the opposite) is talking about negativism?

With every posting you reveal more and more about the negative elements of your character. Don't you know anything about compromise and conciliation?

Yes, we are all mentally ill, arnt we?

How about you answer his/her question instead of questioning their integrity?

Boghos,

In my view, this "unity business" is total mumbo-jumbo. What unity? Unity around/about what? Unity with whom? Those who share common goals are united through their goals. Those who share common hatred are also united when it comes to the subjects related to the source of hatred.

Outside very limited parameters, I don’t know what does “unity” mean, and why is it good. I know of two united societies of the time – Nazi Germany and Soviet Union of pre-Brezhnev era.

I vote for the establishment/assertion of higher goals and for disunity.

I know. I am just using the opportunity to dismiss that mumbo-jumbo.

ooh Boghos! The armenia diaspora is Dying? I see your point, but that makes me feel so sad to hear you say that. Happy thoughts, Happy thoughts!

This topic, I think you all don't need me to tell you, (along with, Marrying Odars) is the hottest around on all the Armenian forums. (just a funny thought: don't you find that Most armenians have pretty much the same thoughts and ideas, not matter which counrty we live in?) There are a lot of good induvidual ideas going around and we all obviously care, but it just seems to be getting worse and worse. I'm sure there are many other minorities less than ours, and even the jews at some points in history!.. Many must have thought they were just going to die out because they didn't even HAVE a home land (unlike us, although it's a srinking, third world one) and they were just a scattered diaspora around the world. But look at Israel now, a nice little country, and jewish people are moving in there now al the tme. So who's to say there isn't any hope for us? IMO, It's due to some of us in govt. not pulling our finger out, but that's just my IMO.

Martin,

How about for starters, working in coalition toward getting the Genocide recognized internationally and achieving restitution. Then helping the tourist business increase by drawing more overseas visitors also by developing and restoring cultural sites. Aren't these things you would like to see?Are Armenians like myself so distasteful to your perceptions that you do not want to coalesce on matters such as these?
