CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL MONUMENTS RE-REGISTERED

 

A complete inventory of historical and cultural monuments in the capital Yerevan and three provinces has been made. It started in Armenia in 1999 in accordance with the relevant government decision of 1995, Armenpress reported.

 

The head of the monuments researching scientific center Vladimir Tshagharian said that the center is to form and clarify the monument preservation zones and their territories.

 

Re-registration has been carried out in Yerevan (1028 monuments), the provinces of Aragatsotn (1755) and Ararat (907), while the results of the registration in Armavir has not finished yet. The lists of the re-registration in Ararat and Aragatsotn were approved by the government, while the list of Yerevan has not been discussed yet.

 

The registration lists include monuments belonging to the ancient times up to first half of the 19th century, quarters, streets, samples of dwelling houses from half of the 19th century up to 1920, monuments belonging to the Soviet times and culture of 1920-50. Architectural buildings that played an important role in the cultural life of Armenia and those with a history of 40 years are also involved in the lists.
