MosJan Posted December 6, 2001 Report Share Posted December 6, 2001 KOCHARIAN RECEIVES VATICAN'S ENVOYArmenia's president Robert Kocharian received today Vatican's envoy Peter Stephan Durbriggen, who finishes his diplomatic mission in Armenia. According to the president's press office, praising Mr. Durbriggen's three-year activities in Armenia, president Kocharian underlined the visit of the Pope of Rome to Armenia, which was really an important event for the country and its spiritual-cultural and political life. In his turn Mr. Durbriggen said that the visit of the Pope of Rome to Armenia was different from other visits, as he came to a country, which was the first in the world to adopt Christianity as a state religion. Underlining the fact that the relations between the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Roman Catholic Church are based on the mutually enriching traditions, Robert Kocharian underlined the importance of the inter-church co-operation, saying that in this context the Armenian church has a rather interesting development. © Copyright AZG Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
