The challenge of life is to overcome.

The essence of life is to care.

The opportunity of life is to serve.

The secret of life is to dare.

The spice of life is to befriend.

Hold On Tightly To What Is Truly Important In Life

Hold on to faith; it is the source of believing

that all things are possible. It is the fiber

and strength of a confident soul.

Hold on to hope; it banishes doubt and enables

attitudes to be positive and cheerful.

Hold on to trust; it is at the core of fruitful

relationships that are secure and content.

Hold on to love; it is life's greatest gift of all,

for it shares, cares and gives meaning to life.

Hold on to family and friends; they are the most

important people in your life, and they make

the world a better place. They are your roots

and the beginnings that you grew from;

they are the vine that has grown through time

to nourish you, help you on your way,

and always remain close by.

Hold on to all that you are and all that you have

learned, for these things are what make you unique.

Don't ignore what you feel and what you believe

is right and important; your heart has a way

Online Friendship

Online friend I have never seen you before,

but I know you are really there.

I click you into reality, like magic in the air.

Your voice is like an angel, though I really do not hear.

Your hug as warm as any, of the loved ones I hold dear.

You are always there for comfort, or a word of cheer.

Though you are very far away, I always have you near.

You are a very special friend, like none I have ever known.

As long as you are in cyberspace, I will never be alone.

The Making of Friends

Life is sweet because of the friends we have made

And the things which in common we share;

We want to live on, not because of ourselves,

But because of the ones who would care.

It's living and doing for somebody else

On that all of life's splendor depends,

And the joy of it all, when we count it all up,

Is found in the making of friends.

~Edgar A. Guest

Into their hearts.

To accomplish great things,

we must not only act, but also dream,

not only plan, but also believe.

~Anatole France

If you put truth above your own desires

And value those as friends who feel the same

If you take pride in things that you've accomplished

And when you're wrong, stand up and take the blame

If you can understand your limitations

And not waste time on tasks beyond your scope

But take the future as a brand new challenge

That you can meet with confidence and hope

If you can listen to those who would advise you

And then judge for yourself just what is right

If you can keep in touch with all about you

And settle differences without a fight

If you can find delight in simple pleasures

And see the rainbow, not the falling rain

If you can lose and never give up trying

Believing that there's nothing done in vain

If you can staunchly stick by your convictions

And not let others set your goals for you

If you can be as practical as need be

And still remember sometimes dreams come true

If you can live the life that you believe in

And trust your judgment and maturity

Then you'll be not just happy and successful,

But the worthwhile person you are meant to be.

~E. M. Gerus

Winners

Winners are people like you.

Winners take chances. Like everyone else, they fear

failing, but they refuse to let fear control them.

Winners don't give up. When life gets rough, they hang

in there until the going gets better.

Winners are flexible. They realize there is more

than one way and are willing to try others.

Winners know they are not perfect. They respect their

weaknesses while making the most of their strengths.

Winners fall, but they don't stay down. They stubbornly

refuse to let a fall keep them from climbing.

Winners don't blame fate for their failures

nor luck for their successes.

Winners accept responsibility for their lives.

Winners are positive thinkers who see good in all things.

From the ordinary, they make the extraordinary.

Winners believe in the path they have chosen even when

it's hard, even when others can't see where they are going.

Winners are patient. They know a goal is only as worthy

as the effort that's required to achieve it.

WINNERS ARE PEOPLE LIKE YOU.

THEY MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE TO BE.

Live Each Day With Love

Life is a constant process of growth and change.

Each day is a miracle filled with new

discoveries and challenges.

Some days bring hurt and disappointment also, but

these, too, are challenges, and as you grow and

change you learn to handle them with more ease.

Growing older means growing in experience,

growing in courage and compassion, growing in

love and growing in strength.

Growing older means changing your life to make

it meaningful to you, changing your attitudes,

and staying flexible about everyday living.

Life keeps getting better as long as

you have a positive attitude.

Remind yourself of all the things you love

about life, stay in touch with your loved ones and

friends, and do what your own heart tells you to.

Your tomorrow will always bring you good things

if you live each day with love. ~Donna Levine

ever hold the world together.

~Woodrow Wilson

Friendship is always a sweet responsibility,

never an opportunity. ~Kahlil Gibran

Everyone Needs Someone

People need people and friends need friends

And we all need love for a full life depends

Not on vast riches or great acclaim

Not on success or on worldly fame

But just in knowing that someone cares

And holds us close in their thoughts and prayers

For only the knowledge that we're understood

Makes everyday living feel wonderfully good

And we rob ourselves of life's greatest need

When we 'lock up our hearts' and fail to heed

The outstretched hand reaching to find

A kindred spirit whose heart and mind

Are lonely and longing to somehow share

Our joys and sorrows and to make us aware

That life's completeness and richness depends

On the things we share with our

loved ones and friends.

Remember that a little love goes a long way.

Remember that a lot...goes forever.

Remember that friendship is a wise investment.

Life's treasures are people...together.

Realize that it's never too late.

Do ordinary things in an extraordinary way.

Have health and hope and happiness.

Take the time to wish upon a star.

And don't ever forget...for even a day,

How very special you are.

~Douglas Pagels Collection

Love is not two people gazing at each other,

but two people looking in the same direction.

~Antoine de Saint Exupery

The great thing in this world is not so much where we are,

but in what direction we are moving.

~Oliver Wendell Holmes

Always Have A Dream

Forget about the days when its been cloudy,

but don't forget your hours in the sun.

Forget about the times you've been defeated,

but don't forget the victories you've won.

Forget about the misfortunes you've encountered,

but don't forget the times your luck has turned.

Forget about the days when you've been lonely,

but don't forget the friendly smiles you've seen.

Forget about the plans that didn't seem to work out right,

but don't forget to always have a dream.

~~~This one's my favorite...better to have had something sweet for a short while, than not to have had it at all:))~~~~ though...I still think about that sweet thing with a smile And, I think what that quote means about not working hard...that does not mean: don't work hard! it means you do your end and I (God) will do mine... the thing is, here it comes....: We are in the 'game of life'...yes! it is a game and we are all the players and take on roles, different roles in the future..of spouse and parent....nevertheless, we are all here to learn and to grow and most importantly leave this world with a little more love than when we came... so when things don't go your way or you wonder why things turn out the way they do, just be aware that although your hard work and efforts put things in motion, there is something out there that is divine and full of grace and it lights your path with love, and it gives you hope, and it connects you to other souls... this graceful force will lead you to your destiny if you choose to listen to it with an open heart
Well, I often do but they very soon tend to get outdated and I have to get new best-things ... My Z505G superslim laptop was TOP of the line in 1999 when I bought it. I worked like a whole year straight saving every penny in order to buy it ... but it's now useless ... only a Pentium 200 But it's amazing how much I used that poor thing. I would drag it to work, to school, back home, dropped it like 4 times .... and it only just recently died on me!
I did get a brand new Dell PIII 1.2Ghz one with 14" screen as part of a fellowship (thank god for "intel academic donations"). I just don't know how long this "best thing" will last ... I am guessing maybe a year?
I also got a an MP3 player for my car which is sweeeet as hell. That one should last me at least a couple of years
I really do love the "best things" in life... and I do appreciate them a LOT since I most often have to suffer to get them. Otherwise, most likely they wouldn't even be "best things"
Thank You Friend
I never came to you, my friend, and went away without
some new enrichment of the heart;
More faith and less of doubt,
more courage in the days ahead.
And often in great need coming to you,
I went away comforted indeed.
How can I find the shining word, the glowing phrase
that tells all that your love has meant to me,
all that your friendship spells?
There is no word, no phrase for you
on whom I so depend.
All I can say to you is this,
God Bless You precious friend.
Daring Greatly
It is not the critic who counts
Not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled
Or where the doer of deeds could have done them better.
The credit goes to the man who is actually in the arena
Whose face is marred by dust and blood
Who strives valiantly
Who errs and comes short again and again.
Who knows great enthusiasms
The great devotions.
Who spends himself in a worthy cause
Who at best knows in the end
the triumph of high achievement
And who at the worst, if he fails
At least fails while Daring Greatly
So that his place shall never be
With the timid souls
Who neither know victory or defeat.
~Theodore Roosevelt
Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind
And therefore is wing'd cupid painted blind.
But will never forget how you made them feel.
You cannot do a kindness too soon...
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Don't Quit
When things go wrong
as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging
seems all uphill,
When the funds are low,
and the debts are high,
And you want to smile,
but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing
you down a bit...
Rest if you must,
but don't you quit.
Success is failure
turned inside out,
The silver tint of
the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell
how close you are,
It may be near
when it seems afar.
So, stick to the fight
when you're hardest hit...
It's when things go wrong
that you mustn't quit.
some achieve change, and some have change thrust upon them.
It All Depends On How You Think
If you think you are beaten - you are.
If you think you dare not - you don't.
If you'd like to win but think you can't,
It's almost certain you won't.
If you think you will lose, you've lost,
For out in the world you'll find
Success begins with a fellow's will.
It's all in the state of your mind.
If you think you're outclassed, you are.
You've got to think high to rise.
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But sooner or later the one who wins
Is the one who thinks he can.
Just think,
you're here not by chance,
but by God's choosing.
His hand formed you
He compares you to no one else.
You are one of a kind.
You lack nothing
that His grace can't give you.
He has allowed you to be here
at this time in history
to fulfill His special purpose
for this generation.
The Rose Beyond The Wall
A rose once grew where all could see,
sheltered beside a garden wall.
And, as the days passed swiftly by,
it spread its branches, straight and tall.
One day, a beam of light shone through
a crevice that had opened wide.
The rose bent gently toward its warmth
then passed beyond to the other side.
Now, you who deeply feel its loss,
be comforted, the rose blooms there.
Its beauty even greater now,
nurtured by God's own loving care.
~Author unknown
(In Loving Memory of my Mother who passed beyond to the other side on 6~26~99)
A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart
and can sing it back to you
The Rose
Some say Love...
It is a river that drowns the tender reed
Some say Love...
It is a razor that leaves your soul to bleed
Some say Love...
It is a hunger, an endless aching need
I say Love...
It is a flower, and you its only seed.
It's the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance
It's the dream afraid of waking
that never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken,
who cannot seem to give
And the soul afraid of dying
that never learns to live.
When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long
And you think that love is only
For the lucky and the strong
Just remember...
In the winter
Far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed
That with the sun's love
In the spring
Becomes the Rose.
"Friends are like television. Some are like PBS and always asking for money. Others are like the news, with sad tales to tell everyday, some are like that one station with the foreing language; you don't understand a word of it but you listen and watch anyway. And then there are the ones like the commercials, always changes, ever-so-annoying and only seem to be there when you are bored. But every once and a while you meet someone who's like a really good movie of the week or that one tv show you hardly ever get to see anymore because you're so busy. My point is hold on to the friends you care about and since we don't have a remote control to mute someone or just change the channel, pick your friends carefully."
"The road to a friend's house is never long." -Danish proverb
"Friends. A simple word isn't it? It's uttered everyday to almost every person imaginable. Who are your friends? I used to think that friends were the people that you could laugh and talk to. Now I know that friends aren't that, they're the people that touch ur heart. You could spend hours with them doing nothing at all and it can be the best time of your life, just becuase it was with them. They're the people you can
share your secrets with, cry with, laugh with, and just have fun with. They don't judge you or make you change. They accept you exactly as you are. They look at you and they see a great person, one they love spending time with. You all share something in common and are tied together by memories, tears, laughs and smiles. You're tied together by love for the other. Friendship is the strangest but greatest thing in the world. I find my time with my friends, the best times of my life. My friends are my heart, my soul, my fun, my laughter, tears, love and my life." -Kate Tierney
"Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It's not something you learn in school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven't learned anything." -Muhammad Ali
What is destiny???
God's plan for you is your destiny; at the end of the tunnel, you look back and see that it was God's will all along."
-- Prof. Carmen Ventanilla
"Two years ago, I found my destiny. And yet, so did he, albeit with another. Just as people equate it with greatness, there are those who are also destined for much hurt and pain."
-- Hazel Reside
"Our destiny, or fate, is that unknowable, untouchable yet percievable sense of a hand sending you to some place or event. The idea that there is harmony and direction in the midst of chaos."
-- Toby Nebrida
"Destiny is believing in God's plan. God allows us to go through things in life for a purpose. He is behind everything that happens in our life. There is a biblical basis for this, Psalm 139, verses 13-16, which says that from the time we were born, God has already planned out our life for us. But this doesn't mean that we should be passive and let things be. In fact, we should even be more appreciative and grateful for the things that happen in our lives, even the burdens and the trials, because these are all part of God's wonderful plan for us.
Everything happens for a reason. Every joy, every tear, every triumph, every loss is part of the tapestry of life that God is weaving for us, until we reach the point where our purpose here on earth has been fulfilled."
-- Tala Maralit
"Destiny is like gravity. If you're somewhere up and then you stop clinging on to something, certainly you will fall. But whose choice was it to go up and let go? Destiny is not absolute. We make choices all the time."
-- Rene Lopos
"Destiny is where we end up as a result of our own free will, which God, in his infinite love, has given us."
-- Cecille Santos
"I guess I do believe in end destiny. Life is just so much more romanticized with it. When something good happens, like living your dreams or meeting a soulmate type person, you can always say it was always meant5 to be. And doesn't that sound so much more mystical than 'it just kinda happened.'
Believing in destiny also make's life's uncertainties so much easier to bear. I mean you won't really force yourself or a person, because you believe that if it was meant to be, even if you try to run away from it,the stars will still conspire for that single event to happen, or in some cases for you and another being to end up together."
-- Christian Parlade
"I believe that life is predominantly in our hands. We cannot blame any other force or some people for what we are and for what happens in our lives. But I also accept that there are some givens in our life, like we are born in a particular point in history, at a particular place, to particular parents. Many things of nature have special characteristics which we cannot change, like the sun rises in the east, water runs downwards, a day has only 24 hours, etc. This is what we call nature. But we still have the power to adapt ourselves to this nature and direct our own life."
-- Father William Maria
"DESTINY IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT. KARMA, THE LAW OF CAUSE AND EFFECT, IS ONLY THE MECHANISM OF DESTINY. WHATEVER YOU THINK, FEEL, DO OR SAY HAS AN EFFECT, GOOD OR BAD. THAT'S WHY WE HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WITH THE CHOICES WE MAKE IN ANY GIVEN LIFETIME. BECAUSE THE OUTCOME OF THE EFFECTS OF OUR DECISIONS, WE SHALL EXPERIENCE IN THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE, IN THE DISTANT FUTURE, OR EVEN IN A FUTURE LIFE.
WE EXERCISE FREE WILL IN EACH MOMENT. MOMENT TO MOMENT, WE CREATE OUR DESTINY. AND IN THE END, WE ARE ONLY A PRODUCT OF THE CHOICES WE MAKE."
-- AUGUST TAMBUNTING
