Yervant1 Posted November 10, 2011 Report Share Posted November 10, 2011 ARMENIAN IMAM KILLED IN RUSSIA yerkir.am11:00 - 10.11.2011 In Russian Yaroslavl city 29-year-old Armenian imam Arthur Manukyanwas killed in front of his house. According to Russian news agency, the man died from the gun shot. Thekiller shot 3 times to the direction of his chest and twice on hishead. The killer had probably used the deafened as no one heardthe shots. Investigators think that the murder could have been on the racismground or it could also be an order. Criminal case is launched. A criminal case has beenlaunched under charges of murder. As reported by Interfax news agency, investigators don't rule out thepossibility that the murder was committed on ethnic grounds and thatsomeone was hired to kill him. Manukyan was appointed to the position of second imam in 2010. Hereceived his religious education at the Ulugh Beg Madrasa in Bukhara,Uzbekistan. Manukyan's father is Armenia, but his mother is Tatar. Note, this is the third murder of a Muslim cleric in the last twomonths in central Russia. On the night of Sept. 18, also murdered inhis home was Abakar Kadi Magomedov, a member of the Muslim communityof Yaroslavl's central mosque. Then on Sept. 24, acting imam of theIvanovski mosque Fouad Rustamhodzhaev was shot just outside his homeas he was returning from the mosque.
