A Puzzle

There are 3 switches in the off position that control 3 lights in another room. You may flip any switches you like, but you can only look/go in the room with the lights once. Can you determine which switch controls which light? If so, how?

That's real simple. Give us something more complex.

Another one:

how would you interpret the statement "One Corsican said all Corsicans ar liers?"

Later, I will offer another such puzzle.

If all Corsicans are liers, then he himself was lying when he said that statement. From there I don't know.

Mike,
Can you have someone help you by turning on the swithces while you are in the room ?

C'mon Martin, that one isn't that easy...is it? E-mail me your answer (or at least the key part of the answer).

Remember you can only go in the room once and you can't see in there at all otherwise. So you can't see what happens when you flip the switches unless you go into the room.

So far, I'm with BTac here. If I'm up another couple of hours thinking about this, you owe me a beer (or a good glass of vino)!

[a few minutes later....]

OK, I'm back. He is lying. Not all Corsicans are liars, only some (he being one of the liars).

Turn Switch #1 on for a few minutes. Shut it off. Turn Switch #2 on and go into the room.

Switch #1: The hot bulb that is off.

Switch #2: The bulb that is currently on.

Switch #3: The cold bulb that is off.

This is a really easy one (You guys are probably going to laugh at me for considering it a "puzzle"). But anyway here it goes.

There is a big Indian next to a little Indian. The little Indian is the big Indian's son, but the big Indian is not the little Indians father. How could this be?

I couldn't come up with anything better in the middle of the night.
