What do you think that being a good card player (especially games that require a lot of strategy) helps you develop? (analytical skills, astuteness in terms of figuring out how the person next to you is thinking etc. or what?) Is bridge the granddaddy of games that require strategy? In games like poker, "havatum em chem havatum", and "durak" for example, although I think I have a good enough grasp of the rules, mechanics, and the probabilities involved to play well, I typically don't do too well because of the human factor involved! I am ok at keeping track of the cards, figuring out who has what, what are the odds of certain scenarios but when it comes to trying to figure out what the other player is going to do, I often guess wrong. Humans are pretty unpredictable game players which is what makes them so fun!!! Bridge requires a lot of practice and thinking if you want to be good. I played a little bit and I think it's a great game but never played enough to be good at it. Even if it is a nice car, you are not suppose to drive such a car.Same goes with bridge. If you ask a young person "Do you play bridge", - the most frequent answer would be: "I'm not sixty yet".
