What with our fascination of the name Ruben/Reuben/Rupen?

Will someone tell me why we have so may named so?

Why is every other Armenian boy name so? Do we know who reuben is?

Please note that it is “ruBen” not “ruPen” as in the Armenian it is “Ռուբէն not ՌուՊեն ”.

RUBEN -From Greek name Rouben which is of Iberian origin (ra "see" and ben "son"). It is in use since XI c. till now. The diminutive form is Rubik.

Above you will notice that his dynasty was known as “RubInian”, that is because the name is spelled as ՌուբԷն not ՌուբԵն as Ե does not turn to Ի/I but Է does.

How do we spell the name? Րուբեն. Րուբէն, Ռուբեն, Ռուբէն?

Of course we know that there are very few, next to none, names and words beginning with the letter soft R in Armenian, the reason why many of us will pronounce it as “ուրբէն/ourben”, just as the “rouss” is pronounced as “ուռուս/ourouss/ըռուս/@rouss”.

Do we know who “reuben” is/was.

He was the first born even if the least favored son of Jacob by his most despised wife Leah. In other words he may have been considered “aporini”. As you cn see he was not born of LOVE.

Why was Leah Jacob’s less favorite wife?

Who th is Jacob/Ya’goob/Yakob/Yakov/Ya'qoub/Yakhoub/ يعقوب‎ ?

Hakob that 90% of our boys are named after?

According to the Book of Genesis, Reuben or Re'uven (Hebrew: רְאוּבֵן‎, Standard Rəʾuven Tiberian Rəʾûḇēn) was the first and eldest son of Jacob with Leah. He was the founder of the Israelite Tribe of Reuben.

Etymology;

the first explanation given by the Torah is that the name refers to God having witnessed Leah's misery, in regard to her status as the less-favourite of Jacob's wives, implying that the etymology of Reuben is that it derives from raa beonyi, meaning he has seen my misery; the second explanation is that the name refers to Leah's hope that Reuben's birth will make Jacob love her, implying a derivation from yeehabani, meaning he will love me. Another Hebrew phrase to which Reuben is particularly close is ra'a ben, meaning behold, a son, which is how classical rabbinical literature interpreted it, although some of these sources argue that Leah was using the term to make an implied distinction between Reuben and Esau, his uncle.[2

**Btw. I personally know of such case in our culture. At one “aghjiktes” the intended groom was not present, instead his brothers were. On the wedding day, the absent groom to be appeared. He was of smaller stature, hunched back and cross eyed. Just as the bride to be was a beauty, and she remained so the end. When she woke up the next morning…Their subsequent life was a hell of a cat and mouse war, even if they stayed together “till death do us part”.
