Armat
Sure we can counter Turkswith Turkey arming Al Queda etc. however after reading the details of Arms sell to Iran it becomes evident Sargsyan is an ordinary jack arse crook. He buys the arms from Bulgarians and signs papers assuring the Bulgerians that the arms will stay in Armenia and upon delivery arms are sold to Iranian arms dealer. This is what is interesting.Iran has 1000x more of the same arms basic tech armor busting guns so Iranian government didn't need them and its obvious the Iranian dealer purchased it to sell privately. So Sargsyan buys weapons for "Armenia" but makes quick sell and pockets the money. So much for being patriotic. gamavor
I'm with Sargysian on this one! Common now, USA has been pouring weapons in the hands of terrorists before during and after Soviets entered Afganistan. They continue to do so during Sadam's war with Iran and even armed Iran - remember Iran-contras afair? I guess USA should have imposed sanctions to themselves first, no? Not to mention the unconditional support USA gives to terrorist country like Turkey on all matters. So, what options Armenian government had been left with, when the USA did nothing to curb Turkey over the Genocide issue or the border oppening? What the West did to better Armenia's democracy? Nothing! Again, what Sargsian did is taking care of national interest! Period. Let the State Department eat shit and die!)

gamavor
Armat jan, you are oversimplifying. It was common in legit international arms trade not to have direct shipment of military equipment. In such manner Nicaragua's leftists were fighting with American made M-16, while right wing rebels in South America and elsewhere were using Kalashnikovs. I wont comment on this particular shipment, but if we have to rely on Bulgarian made armament God be with us:) It is crap. It use to be good, not anymore:) I don't think the arms were initially intended for us. Enough said! Bulgarian arms were mostly sold to Azerbaidjan, but not to Armenia. Whatever happened to your signature " the best duck is a dead duck"? So I gather you agree with Gamavor? So we make excuses for crooks and keep crooks in power and nothing changes and people suffer, corruption etc.Saying goes "people deserve their leaders" Gamavor writes "what Sargsian did is taking care of national interest!"How is selling weapons to Iranian arms dealer in interest of our nation? Those weapons were supposedly purchased to defend the same NATION! Making cheap buck is more like it. Harut
armat, that article is full of holes, baseless assumptions, long-stretched jumps to conclusions, and apprently poorly researched about the basics of arms deals... and so are your arguments in this case... Boghos
I don't think he is an idiot. What I think is that the minor Russian style nobility that runs Armenian does it only for its own benefit as it is logical for an absolutist monarchy. The diaspora intsitutions and especially AGBU have no choice but to help Armenia and Etchmiadzin even if that means helping the princelings, counts and barons that live in the Russian Empire, Province of Armenia. So where do we go from here? Do we expect the people to revolt or we just tolerate the most used Armenian protest strategy: immigration? tiktok
Unless the US can supply Armenia with a pipeline for its energy requirements and migrate next to Armenia to balance two antagonistic neighboors, it can kiss our @ss. Armenia did not sell those because Iran needed them..., it is a gesture of friendship. Whatever Iran sold them to other groups is a nonissue. And this in spite of the monatery help the US is providing to Armenia which does not make needless the security and energy demand Armenia needs. Simplifying this with a ''How dare you sell to Iran'' is the kind of language neocons have habituated us with but hardly explain all those shade of grays. Arman, i honestly don't understand what you're trying to say... all i'm saying is that the article is poorly written... it is trying to make a sensation out of nothing, with statements like "sargsyan personally gave a written guarantee" (mostly likely referring to a generic user certificate, which is signed by "minister of defense", which is a standard procedure in any international arms deal)... at the same time, your accusations of "using public funds to line up his pockets" are unfounded (i'm sure he does that every day, but to make an accusation for a specific case with no evidence is unfounded)...
