Guest Fadi
If someone didn't read http://www.jewishworldreview.com/cols/feder112700.asp By Don Feder, then the someone that didn't read it should read it. And I hope that everyone write him, we should force him to publicly appologise in jewishworldreview for this article. As my part I emailed him, I just hoped to wait untill Winston correct my mistakes. Well this is my letter, I post it as material resource, and for the time I pout on, to write it. -------------------------------------I’m a Canadian Armenian living in Montréal and a student. I would like to excuse myself for my poor English, since my primary language is French. But I will try to make myself very clear. Now, the reason of my answer is an article published by Don Feder, EU roasts Turkey over Armenians. I had to comment to this article, and I believe that someone that want to write an article in a journal, the best thing to do is at least have a knowledge of the subject in question. The job of an editorialist above all is to inform people, and to inform, the editorialist must know what he is writing about and not base himself on just a vague opinion. The author of the article seam to manipulate the event, and play the game of “realpolitik”, and have no idea of the real reason behind the resolutions that Armenians are trying to pass. It’s not the Holocaust that a government pay millions to deny, it’s the Armenian genocide. It’s not in Berlin that a mausoleum of Adolf Hitler is erected. In Turkey on the “Hill of Liberty” they erected a mausoleum of Talaat, the head of the extermination policy. Jacques Derogy, write in his book about the subject: "Is it a matter of chance that in 1942, Hitlerite Germany restored Talaat's ashes to Kemal Ataturk's successor, who had them transferred to Istanbul with all the pomp reserved for the heroes of the fatherland? The remains of the former leader of the Young Turks, assassinated by Tehlirian in Berlin, have since rested in a mausoleum erected in 1943 on the Hill of Liberty. Each year, on March 21, the president of the [Turkish] Republic pays homage there to commemorate Talaat's 'martyr's death.'" The only way Armenians have to fight against the denial is the bills they try to pass. Is this to much for Don Feder ? The only way to protect ourselves against all the Governmental sponsored revisionism is to pass these bills. Like Pierre Vidal-Naquet write in his book Assassins of Memory : “Let us put ourselves in the position of Armenian minorities throughout the world. Imagine now Faurisson as a minister, Faurisson as a general, an ambassador, or an influential member of the United Nations; imagine Faurisson responding in the press each time it is a question of the genocide of the Jews, in brief, a state-sponsored Faurisson combined with an international Faurisson, and along with it, Talaat-Himmler having his solemn mausoleum in the capital. “ My families from both sides are products of survivors of the genocide, like the majority of the diasporan Armenians. It seam to me that the only people that should really understand our demands are the Jews, but they are not, since many Jewish intellectuals like Don Feder are working for the denial for realpolitik, and what makes me angry the most is when ignorant’s write about a subject that they have no idea of. Now when someone post Bruce Fein as a reference it show his biases and denialism of the Armenian genocide. When Fein is a know sponsored denialist that been contradicted many times by using forged testimonies. Fein in the house of representative resolutions testimony presented a letter of Admiral Bristol that has been forged, here is his quote: "that the Turks massacred thousands of Armenians in the Caucasus . . . are absolutely false," when the report that he is referring to is from a letter of Bristol dating of 28 March 1921 “I see that reports are being freely circulated in the United States that the Turks massacred thousands of Armenians in the Caucasus. Such reports are repeated so many times it makes my blood boil. The Near East Relief have the reports from Yarrow and our own American people which show absolutely that such Armenian reports are absolutely false.” What Fein forget to mention is that Bristol called the “Blond Beast” was an anti-Armenian, anti-Jewish and anti-Greek, considering them as inferior “races”, and that the report that he is talking about is about the massacres in the Caucasus not Ottoman, that were happening in 1920-1922. And that Bristol was against any help for the Armenian refugies. Now about the massacres of Armenians that Bristol was denying, after Col. Wm. Haskell was concerned about the continual massacres against Armenians, in Caucasus, Azerbaijan and Turkey, Bristol answered without reading any reports: “…as regards the information obtained from Azerbaijan, Armenia or from Turkey, I never put much stock in its face value…” He declared at the beginning of his mission “The Armenians are a race that deserve small consideration.” Declaring about a year later “Armenians are a race like the Jews; they have little or no national spirit and have poor moral character.” Again he continued with such reports: “I believe that if the Turk, the Greek, the Armenian, the Syrian, etc., were shaken up in a bag you would not know which one would come out first, but probably the Turk is the best one of the lot….I have not so much hope for these other races.” Then again “the Turk has some individual traits of character that are so far superior to those of other races that one is led to sympathize with the Turks even though you never forget the bad traits of his character that are illustrated by the acts committed against subjugated races.” The most interesting part is that Fein never referred about the fact that, after losing his credibility, ignoring reports etc… after the multiplying reports he declared in 19 Nov 1922 “Latest information makes me certain that the Nationalist Government wishes to get rid of the entire Greek and Armenian population of Anatolia and Constantinople…” Or Fein never talked about the final report of Bristol to the state department: "the most barbarous acts of the regime in power at the time of the Armenian massacres,…the cruelties practiced upon the Armenians by Turks acting under official orders, and in pursuance of a deliberate official policy,…there can be no adequate excuse." So before quoting Fein as a source to indirectly deny the Armenian genocide make the editorialist nothing different the an Irving or a Flaurisson. Well I could also decide to write an article by referring to the Irvings of this world to deny the Holocaust. But contrary to Don Feder I’m not a denier. I feel and understand the victims of a genocide and do not play the game of realpolitik. Now the author indirect allegations that the number of 1,5 million is an Armenian number. This also show the ignorance of the author about the subject. This number was used by foreigners, and more particularly Ottoman allies, Germany and Austria. The German report of October 4, 1916 from Radowitz, the interim German Ambassador the victims were numbering 1,5 million deaths(A.A Türkei 183/44. A27493), another report from Germany foreign Office Intelligence Director Erzeberger May 27, 1916 report, stat that around 1,5 million Armenians perished(A.A. Türkei 182/42 A13959). These were secret reports, and were not propaganda materials, since Germany was Ottoman allie. The Ottoman official numbers of killed from 1915-1918 was 800,000 killed, and perished in the concentration camps here are not counted as “killed” this was from Djemal Bureau at the Turkish war intelligentsia. And the statistic has been published in Turkish newspapers, here it is the Ottoman official newspaper, that finally released the numbers two years later. Takvimi Vekâyi No. 3909, July 21, 1920, pp. 3, 4 the numbers here were about the persons executed during the war time deportation, without the orphans executed by injecting them with morphine’s and drowning them in water(the proves were provided during the Turkish military after war tribunal, published, in the Holocaust and Genocide Studies Volume 11, Number 1, Spring 1997, based on the microfilms of the Ottoman official newspaper in US foreign affairs archives, the tribunal being a public one, the results etc… and all was published in the Ottoman official newspaper Takvimi Vekâyi). Now the author write again something unacceptable, I wonder what he would tell if somebody would write the same about Hitler’s army. “records show the Ottoman government ordered its army to exercise restraint in moving the Armenians.” This is a pure lie coming directly from Turkish foreign ministry affairs diplomacy. We have just to read the special organization orders etc… and read memoires such as General Halil, called the Supreme General of the East, he was the uncle of Enver ***** the war ministry. Halil write in his memoir. "I have tried to wipe out the Armenian nation to the last individual."( Halil Pasa, Btimeyen Savas. p. 241) I will not post also orders from General Karabekir, or memoirs of peoples that refused to execute the Armenians. My attend is to show how when someone write in an editorial by denying aspects of the Holocaust, everyone jump on him, but when the Armenian genocide is denied it’s ignored. And when the author say exactly the same thing as the Turkish government tells(It should be left to historians) then it show’s why the Armenians are trying to pass all these bills. Turkey is a fascist regime, and yes many of their politics were similar and still are similar of NAZI politic, the author has just to take a look at the pre WWII, WWII and after WWII. He may have a surprise, the Interview of the Turkish newspaper to Adolf Hitler in 1933(Milliyet), and the repopulation plans exposed by Hitler, and how Ataturk has don this for the establishment of the Turkish republic. When before this Hitler exposed his plan, in an interview in 1931. “Everywhere people are awaiting a new world order. We intend to introduce a great resettlement policy… think the biblical deportations the massacres of the Middle Ages … and remember the extermination of the Armenians (erinnern Sie sich doch an die Ausrottung Armeniens.)” (from, Ohne Maske. English traduction, Titled Secret Conversation with Hitler; The Two Newly – Discovered 1931 Interviews, translated from German by Richard Barry). More to this, the hate that the NAZI had for the Armenians was linked to the fact that the Germans present in Turkey during WWI, were calling the Armenians as inferior races. Here is some quotations of what Jews and Armenians were called by the NAZI. "People of wastes."( Alfred Rosenberg, Der Mythus des Zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts(Münich 1930) p. 213) "Armenians were even worse then the Jews." The Myth of the Master Race, Alfred Rosenberg and the NAZI ideology, by Robert Cecil /n.32 / p.30 The NAZI believed that Armenians were just a type of Jews calling them "Armenian Jews" (from the NAZI critic publication Das Schwarze Korps, November 1936) Hitler conference of April 17, 1943, say also a lots when he describe the Jews as “tubercular bacilli that threatened a healthy body.” Ending up this conference by giving an example. “once so proud a people as the Persians, who now had to continue their miserable existence as Armenians.” His always believe of the Armenians infected etc… One has just to read Germany implication of the Armenian genocide book written by Dadrian to remark all the names, present during the extermination that were members of the NAZI party, and Hitler close friends. Here Germany secret report indicate the reasons of the extermination "by February 1916, 1.5 million Armenians were destroyed ... the first step toward the recovery of the economic predominance in Turkey ... there was joy in the government circles that the long-desired opportunity finally presented itself... the extermination of the Armenians" A.A. Türkei, 134/35, A18613, pp. 1,2,3,4 "Volkswirtschaftliche Studien in der Türkey" report. I could continue long and long like this way. But as experience I know a denier is a denier and can not be changed. But it is more shame for a Jew to deny a genocide, when a Jew know clearly what is to deny a genocide. Just shame on Don Feder. The next time I just wish that he learn a subject before writing it. And if he was a professional he would excuse himself for the denial of a genocide, since he just gon out of the limit of an editorialist ethic. Talking about the Turkish diplomat assassinations seam also an indirect way of destroying the image of the Armenians. Without mentioning why these massacres started in these years. Without mentioning that starting in the 70’s the Turkish government started to found chairs of history around the world for one objective to rewrite history, and that diplomats were sent around the world as “propaganders” of the denial. What makes these groups any different then the Jewish groups that called themselves “Vengence” and were trying to target aqueducts in Germany etc… What the Jews would do, if their genocide would have been still denied by Germany and that Germany would found history chairs and grant historians to deny the Holocaust(See Dr. Lifton essay on the Holocaust and Genocide study review on corruption and the Armenian genocide denial). Germany sending diplomats, and the world accepting them, accepting the foreign ministry affairs publications distributed by these same diplomats. What proves that any Jewish groups would not do different then targeting these diplomats ? Now the massacres of Turks by Armenians, the Turkish military after war tribunal, accused the Ittihad Turkish government, they said that there was not Armenian rebellion in Ottoman, that the Armenians were loyal. Dr. Refik at the Turkish military war intelligentsia wrote. In his reports and after war studies. « In order to justify this enormous crime the requisite propaganda material was thoroughly prepared in Istanbul. [it included such statements as:] “the Armenians are in league with the enemy. They will launch an uprising in Istanbul, kill off the Ittihadist leaders and will succeed in opening up the straits [to enable the Allied fleets to capture Istanbul].” These vile and malicious incitements [were such, however, that they] could persuade only people who were not even able to feel the pangs of their own hunger. » (Ahmet Refik, Ýki Komite-Ýki Kýtâl, Ýstanbul 1919) He also continue and write in the same work. « The brigands of the Special Organization perpetrated the worst crimes against the Armenians...The aim of Ittihad was to destroy the Armenians and thereby to do away with the Question of Eastern Provinces. » The historian G. S. Graber(known also for his work about the Holocaust), in his work Caravans to Oblivion provide many archival materials, and also materials about the Ittihad congress. He quote the extermination order from the Ittihad congress of Feb. 1915, when the Ottoman was able to liquidate the Armenian males in the Army in order to kill any possible Armenian defence. "It is absolutely necessary to eliminate the Armenian people in its entirety, so that there is no further Armenian on this earth and the very concept of Armenia is extinguished." From the same reports Mavlan Rifat write from his notes in his work in French. « Les dessous de la révolution ottoman », Alep, 1929, about the Feb. secret meeting before the declaration of the extermination in the congress, the report of Hassan Fehmi. “There should be no Armenian left, no elderly, no children… all should be annihilated. I have a plan of easy extermination. Let me expose it. We are in war now. We will send in front line the young that are able to carry arms. We will take them in fire, the Russians attacking from one side, and us from the back they will be annihilated. We will then order our believers to liquidate the weakest.” Peoples were also burned in mass. And the Jewish NILI group was one of the reporters of the destructions of all a village Armenian population consumed with fire. Eitan Belkind a Jewish eyewitnesses report. "The Circassian soldiers ordered the Armenians to gather thorns and thistles to pile them into a tall pyramid; afterward they tied all of the Armenians who were there, almost five thousand souls, hand in hand, encircled them like a ring around the pile of thistles and thorns and set it afire in a blaze which rose up to the heavens together with the screams of the wretched people who were burned to death by the fire. I fled from the place, because I could not stand to see this horrifying sight..." The flame of Nili, pp. 111 -15 Another allusion of Don Feder that is wrong, is that the Genocide usage had nothing to do with the Armenian case. If he knew a little Raphael Lemkin he will know that Lemkin started the conception of a word to describe the extermination of a people with the Armenians, wile before the Holocaust. If we take H. Yahreas work, The World’s Most Horrible Crime, Colliers, vol. 127, 3 March 1951 The author of the work retrace Lemkin interest about war crimes, extermination etc… In fact the first conversation he had was at Lvov University in 1920, when he engaged an argument about his personal research about the Armenian extermination with his Russian Law professor. In his work Genocide also he refered to the Armenian massacre as example of extermination, in many of his correspondents etc… he referred to the Armenian event as genocide. Here we have a letter from Lemkin to Mrs. Thelma Stevens of the Methodist Women’s council, dated July 26, 1950. “ This conversation is a matter of conscience and is a test of our personal relationship to evil. I know it is very hot in July and August for our work and planning, but without becoming sentimental or trying to use colourful speech, let us not forget that the heat of this month is less unbearable to us that the heat in the ovens of Aushwitz and Dachau and more lenient than the murderous heat in the desert of Allepo which burned to death the bodies of hundreds of thousands of Christian Armenian victims of genocide in 1915” Here the desert he is talking about is the Del-El-Zor desert used as concentration camp to send the women children and olds, after that the men were liquidated. This is with what Don Feder is playing with, the death of more then a million Armenians exterminated without distinction, using denialist tactics, that he would jump on if they were used to deny the Holocaust. When every Holocaust and Genocide study organisations including the Holocaust and Genocide study in Jerusalem university call the Armenian genocide undeniable, maybe Don Feder know more then any specialists of the subject ? Or maybe he would like to use McCarthy calculations, a know denialist sponsored by the Turkish government, and his work denied by others, like Frederic Paulin, Dr. Panzac, Himar Kaiser, Dr. Israel Charny, Dr. Lifon etc… etc… etc… the same McCarthy in the Ottoman chair of history founded and financed in part by the Turkish state ? What I can tell is just shame on this article. I just hope to not see again Don Feder writing again about something that he has no idea of. And more he should verify his facts about PKK killing 30,000 people, this is a biased and would be denied by any knowledgeable person. It was the civil war against the PKK that made so much victims, an important part of them(in fact near the majority) are not Turks that Kurds. It’s funny that he has nothing to say about the more then 3000 Kurdish villages destroyed, more then 2 million Kurds “relocated” military bases on the middle of villages, peoples that have no right to have their cultures, one of the worst in term of Freedom of speech. Why not give Iran EU membership at least Iran has changed a losts, when Turkey has not, when the government directly finance the Greywolves, a fascist organization found in the 40’s as supporters of the NAZI ideologies, when Greeks, Armenians and Jews were deported, and that special taxes has been applied to minorities after NAZI Germany minority special tax. Don Feder study something before writing about it, you should be ashamed of your article. And if you were a professional(I dough about it) you would excuse yourself for this article, you are nothing different then Irving.
