ՄԱԿՈՅԿ, ՄԱՔՈՔ ,ԿԿՈՑ

In another thread we spoke about dinghies and boats as in "flotilla".

I chose the title Makuyk Kayak, not “boat” for a reason, since the word boat can be used to describe the smallest to the largest like those super cruise ships. Remember the TV show “Love Boat”?

Here is what Avetiq says about “makuyk/մակոյկ”. “Trust the oceans in a leaky boat, than trust a woman at her oath” (Of course, those are words by Abu Lala Maari). One wonders how Maari knew about “leaky boats” when he lived his entire life in the deserts of Aleppo and Baghdad.. Plus, he could not even see, he was blind. The only ships he may have known is the “ship of the desert“, aka camel.

There are so many turns and twists here that one will not know whether one is coming or going.

Anyhow, here is what Hrachya says. Note. In traditional orthography the word is spelled ՄԱԿՈՅԿ as opposed to ՄԱԿՈՒՅԿ. Was it meant to be read as “makOYk/”մակՈՅկ rather than “MakOUYk/մակՈՒՅկ?

the Persian dictionary says it is “mako” ماکو In another non-language it is “mekik”.

One dictionary says մակոյկ is boat “yawl”. Here is a picture of a yawl, that is no makuyk.
