3rd/4th Place Match (Match 63)Uruguay vs Germany 2:30 pm ET

Uruguay will win 2 to 1 :P

This is more like a wishful prediction, because Uruguay has never beaten Germany. Never say never now that they are out of the final.

:) you are letting your emotions get in the way of clear thinking... :) 3-0 germany

BTW Germany will not score 3 goals, after today's defeat.

I think they will come back with a vengence and score 4.

Oh and for the record - GO ESPANA!!!! I had no hopes of them beating Germany but I'm sooooooo happy they did!!!

Now it is Brazil 2014. You all probaby know that in Brazil when the team is playing the country stops, literally. People are either left off work or companies provide a TV and refreshments during the game. Brazil played pathetically in the second half against Holland. That Friday I was doubly depressed Brazil lost after a wonderful beginning and Ghana had the best chance ever to go on to see it wasted. The only thing that made up for it was Germany demolishing Argentina on Friday. Anyway, please come to Brazil for World Cup 2014.

Game result; Germany 3 : 2 Uruguay

Very entertaining game, the German keeper saved two good goal chances and the Uruguayen keeper made two big mistakes which resulted into two goals.

what a fun month. I will miss the world cup. Cant wait till Brazil...

Im happy Spain won and I had picked them from day one but am disappointed in the way they did it. Not much entertaining games from Spain... German was in my opinion the best team and they are so young. they are here for a while.

Final (Match 64) Netherlands vs Spain 2:30 pm ET

Spain will win 2 to 1

Game result; Spain 1 : 0 Holland

A nail biting game to say the least!!!!!!!!!!

If Holland had won the game I would have been as happy, they played a great game. Too bad that there wasn't more goals, never the less it was a great game to watch. The greatest player scored the goal and I'm happy for him.

Until next time in 2014 in Brazil. :)

German prosecutors: about 270 matches now under suspicion in corruption scandal

BERLIN - An investigation into suspected soccer match-fixing now covers 270 matches in several countries and more than 250 people, German prosecutors said Wednesday.

Prosecutors in Bochum first announced the investigation last November, saying at the time that about 200 games and 200 people were under suspicion - prompting a UEFA official to say it was probably the biggest match-fixing scandal in Europe.

In Wednesday's update, they said that investigations so far have allowed suspicions of match-fixing to be "further substantiated."

They suspect that some 1.5 million euros (C$2 million) was paid in bribes to referees, players and others and that profits from manipulated bets amounted to 7.5 million euros (C$9.9 million), according to a statement. The total value of bets placed on matches that may have been manipulated is believed to be about 12 million euros (C$15.8 million).

Those numbers are likely to rise because investigations to date indicate that many people were used to place bets with different bookmakers across Europe in order to cover up the suspects' activities, prosecutors said.

They added that, for example, some 6,000 bets with a total value of 32.5 million euros (C$42.7 million) via a single Asian bookmaker in Britain, which wasn't identified, could be attributed to the group under suspicion. Not all those bets were on suspect matches.

The investigation now covers 53 matches in Germany; 19 in Belgium; 35 in Switzerland; 15 in Croatia; seven in Slovenia; 74 in Turkey; 14 in Hungary; eight in Bosnia; 12 in Austria; and 33 games in international competitions.

Prosecutors didn't name specific matches and also didn't identify any of the people under investigation.

Eight people remain in detention awaiting charges in Germany, prosecutors said. So far, they added, there have been three arrests in Switzerland, 22 in Croatia and about 70 in Turkey.

"The extremely complex investigations will take a long time yet," prosecutors said, although they added that authorities expect to start filing charges "shortly."

"All relevant information" is being exchanged with other countries involved, such as Belgium, Slovenia, Hungary, Bosnia, Austria and Britain, they said.

The prosecutors' office in Bochum is Germany's leading authority on fighting corruption and fraud.
