I don't know of any other people who use Turks as a reference to all their woes and problems. But, the thing is that in their minds all Balkan Muslims (even non-Turks such as Bosnians, Albanians, Gypsies and Bulgarian Muslims) are all classified as "Turks." They have a pretty sad and messed-up history too, although not as painful as ours. They like to say that had it not been for them, all of Europe would have fallen to Turks and Islam. We can make the same arguments. We bore all the initial brunt of Turko-Mongol invasions, and we are still fighting this holy war today.
