Guest Posted December 28, 2000 Report Share Posted December 28, 2000 US Ambassador to Armenia Comments On Future Relations YEREVAN (Armenpress)--"We give a special importance to 2001, as it is a unique year, marking the 1,700th anniversary of proclamation of Christianity as the official religion of Armenia," read a New Year message by the US ambassador to Yerevan Michael Lemmon. Evaluating the past year, the ambassador thinks important that Armenians were able to collect their forces to overcome the October 27 tragedy and unite for the establishment of inner stability. The ambassador mentioned the Armenian government's steps aimed at improvement of investment climate and economy development. Lemmon also promised the US-Armenian Task Force set up by the late Prime Minister Vazgen Sarkisian and former US Vice President Albert Gore will continue to support Armenia. The ambassador expressed hope that entering a new millennium the US will continue to cooperate with Armenia. Particularly, steps will be taken to promote Armenian economy development, as well as assist the Armenian government in struggling against corruption.
