Yerevan Hosts World Chess Championship YEREVAN (Armenpress)—The World Chess Championship of Boys and Girls under 20 years of age began Tuesday, at the Yerevan Chess House. Sixty boys and thirty-two girls from more than 40 countries, among them six grand-masters and tens of international and FIDE masters, will compete for the championship title. The competition will conclude October 1. The chief referee is Gart Giysen from Holland. The Armenian team is represented by five boys and four girls: Grand Masters Levon Aronian, Karen Asrian, Gabriel Galustian, David Harutunian and Varuzhan Hakobian, Lilit Mkrtchian, Lilit Galoyan, Narine Gasparian and Nelly Aghinian.
