Guest
ARMENIA'S EARLIER RULING PARTY INTENDS TO CREATE A UNITED OPPOSITION FRONT OF RIGHT FORCES AND SURE THAT WILL RETURN TO POWER,EVEN IF AFTER 5-10 YEARS YEREVAN, DECEMBER 23. Armenian National Movement (ANM) in the frameworks of the Constitution will be struggle forneutralization of threatens over the country of interior and foreign character, the rehabilitation of legality, democracy, formation ofcivil society. It is said in the resolution, passed today during the 12th session of the earlier ruling party of Armenia. The ANM thinks that the present powers of Armenia, aspiring to establishment of dictatorship in the country, consequentlydestabilized the political field, in the result of which unprincipled forces appeared in the parliament. "An atmosphere of terror andviolence was created in the country, which brought to unprecedented act of terrorism in Armenia's parliament on Oct 27, 1999" - it is said in the resolution. The social and economic life of the country is in a crisis situation. The disgraceful budget 2001 is the reflection of it. The growth of emigration of Armenia's population is the consequence of all these. Because of the defects in the foreign policy, the country excluded the processes of international integration, and the negotiating process on Artsax's settlement reached a deadlock. The new composition of the administration of the ANM was announced during the session. Those are: Alexander Arzoumanian (ex-minister of Armenia's Foreign Affairs), Ararat Zourabian, Tigran Hakopian, Aram Manoukian, Hovhannes Igitian, Yerjanik Abgarian, Vano Siradeghian and others. Noteworthy, the ex-minister of Armenia's Internal Affairs, Vano Siradeghian, accused on organizing a number of orderedassassinations and now being in international search, collected the most number of votes of the session's delegates - 317 from 341. Alexander Arzoumanian is elected a chairman of administration. Alexander Arzoumanian mentioned that the ANM is the most organized party in Armenia. The new-elected administration intends to cooperate with all the right forces and create a united opposition front. Arzoumanian is also sure that the ANM will undoubtedly return to power, even if 5-10 years. However, it' interesting that today the session was not attended by the group of ANM, which had created a social organization "Armat" (Root), headed by the ex-speaker of Armenian parliament, Babken Ararktsian. The fact is that a day before, the members of Armat proposed to rename the Armenian National Movement. Their proposal they motivated that the word "Armenian national movement" itself calls a negative reaction of the society. Besides, the ANM, during its time, had been formed by some political organizations, like National-Democratic union (leader - Vazgen Manoukian), "21th century" party (leader - David Shahnazarian), and Armat. But the whole responsibility for "the bygone sins" are laid and associated only with Armenian National Movement. This proposal provoked a stormy protest of Alexander Arzoumanian and his supporters. The delegates of the session think that theses disagreements were the reason of the rejection of the candidates of Armat in the administration.
