An answer to Turkish Denials

It includes Quotations and caricatures from her majesty,

The Media (1896 - 1923).

[Compiled from 160 International Journals; such as NY Times, Washington Post, London Times, Los Angeles Times, Pall Mall Magazine, Le Journal (Paris), etc. from 1896 through 1923)]

This volume, compiled by an Armenian, has not been prhttp://turkishdenials.com/assets/images/TurkishDenialsBookCover.jpgepared as a monument to the imperishable memory of the Armenian martyrs. The goal of this book is to uncover realities that had been hidden in the pages of "Her Majesty the Press".

It is impossible for any scholar or researcher to describe the atrocities committed by the Turks against the minorities of the Ottoman Empire. Yet no book on this incomprehensible story of mass martyrdom can avoid giving some conception, no matter how inadequate, of the veritable hell through which a gifted and industrious people went to their doom.

In order to be impartial, John left this mournful part of the story to reputable contemporary non-Armenian sources.

This volume is the collection of your excellent "work". The selections of caricatures and quotations which appear on the the pages of this book are by no means the most heartrending to be found in the international Press on the deportation and massacres of Armenians.

There is a great need for the facts to be known. There is a need for them to be remembered again by the world at large, a world which has forgotten the Armenian case. I hope that this modest effort will revive the interest in the unhappy events of that period, and find a parallel response in the conscience of the Turks.

In addressing you, I am also addressing your friends who are supporting you.

The Armenian massacres are not a separate case of a problem dealing with certain events which had occurred in the past. The Armenian massacres are an international problem.

The massacre of Greeks, Serbians, Arabs, Kurds and recently of Greek Cypriots wouldn't have happened if in 1920 the Armenian problem had been settled. A just solution was possible with the aid of our allies which now are also yours. No action was taken then nor now by the allies and so the Armenian problem is still with us all. The Allies sold their birthright for a mess of pottage and still are. We must also note that the true problem is not the Armenian people, it is you the Turk.

This book is not a call for vengeance. This course of action has always been meaningless and futile in the history of the world. It neither restores loved ones nor erases horrors from memory.

However, the elimination of vengeance does not nullify a need to document these events, nor does it eliminate the requirement that your people admit to their acts and designs in the Great Crime. Unfortunately until this day, both your government and your people have arrogantly pursued a policy of denial.

Finally, as I mentioned, this volume has been written with no vengeful motive, but to do justice to the memory of the martyrs, and to record facts for posterity and events which have not been pleasant to recite or to recall.
