Guest
Letter - PAUL D. CARNEY Publish the facts, get to problem Glendale has had a problem with hatred, racism and teen violence for as long as I can remember. First off, for years, Armenians and Latino's don't like each other very much, but everybody in Glendale thinks everything will work itself out. I don't think so. The stabbing of Raul Aguirre on May 5, only made matters harder to deal with! I believe in my heart, the press should print the facts -- what really happens here in Glendale -- because it bothers me when I read something and I feel I been lied to. Because how do you handle problems, put them on the table and deal with them. Don't fix something by sweeping everything under the rug! PAUL D. Guest
Arraignment delayed for Aguirre suspects By AMBER WILLARD GLENDALE COURTHOUSE -- The arraignment Thursday afternoon for three youths accused of killing Hoover High School student Raul Aguirre was delayed until August. Court Commissioner Daniel F. Calabro delayed the arraignment at the request of attorneys for the suspects -- Karen Terteryan, 17; Rafael Gevorgyan, 15; and Anait Ano Msryan, 14. The three, brought into the courtroom wearing orange jumpsuits, are charged with one count each of murder, attempted murder and street terrorism. A special circumstance of murder by a street gang could mean that if convicted, the youths could receive life sentences without parole. Aguirre's mother and sister were in court for the arraignment. Aguirre, 17, who was not a gang member, was killed May 5 in front of Hoover High School when he tried to break up a fight between Latino and Armenians gang members, police said. Prosecutors have said Gevorgyan hit Aguirre with a crowbar and that Terteryan stabbed him four times. Police have said Msryan was driving the car that the three used to flee the fight scene. She is the youngest female in Glendale history to be charged with murder, police said.
