What business do they have in nuclear matters? The White House has listed the 47 nations expected to attend President Obama's big summit next week on nuclear security, a group ranging from Algeria to Vietnam.The vast majority of the countries on the guest list do not have nuclear weapons, but Obama is planning one-on-one meetings with leaders of those that do, including China, India and Pakistan.The president also has bilateral meetings scheduled next week with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany and King Abdullah II of Jordan, according to White House spokesman Robert Gibbs.And, of course, Obama meets this week with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, as the two sign a new arms reduction deal in Prague.The summit is designed to discuss ways to track down any so-called "loose nukes," unsecured material that could be used to make nuclear weapons.Also on the guest list for the summit: Israel, which is reported to have nuclear weapons, but has neither confirmed nor denied that claim. They include Algeria, Argentina,Armenia, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Switzerland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Ukraine and Vietnam.The United Nations, the IAEA, and the European Union will also be represented.As part of the nuclear security summit, the president is currently planning to host a number of bilateral meetings. Those include President Sargsyan of Armenia, President Hu Jintao of China, Chancellor Merkel of Germany, Prime Minister Singh of India, King Abdullah II of Jordan, Prime Minister Najib of Malaysia, Prime Minister Gilani of Pakistan, President Zuma of South Africa and President Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan. Does Armenia have such a rule?=====After the Polish President’s plane crash, Turkey directed attention to the fact that Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan come on different boards.Last time Gul and Erdogan flied from Ankara to Istanbul in taking separate planes to attend the burial service of Professor Sabahattin Zaim, Turkish Aksam newspaper reports.
