Parliament Killings, Prosecutor Says Terrorists Acted Alone

YEREVAN, Jul 8, 2000 -- (Agence France Presse) The gunmen who stormed Armenia's parliament last October, killing eight people including the prime minister, acted alone, Armenian's military prosecutor said in an interview published on Friday.

Investigators "had found no evidence of people behind the attack" that was led by Nairi Ounanian, the former leader of an Armenian nationalist political party, the prosecutor said.

He added that the men charged over the attack had gone back on earlier statements made to investigators, in which they implicated leading figures in Armenia.
