MosJan
A BOLT FROM THE BLUE USD Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan, seconding candidate for presidency Artashes Geghamyan, disagrees on the decision over the second round of the presidential elections. He demands the whole process to begin at very first. Hayrikyan has this kind of stance because the first phase of elections was overfilled with irregularities, so that it can’t be admissible. “CEC has made the decision on the second round of elections under obvious pressure” , he adds. The second reason for his position is the following: CIS observers announced elections were free, transparent and conducted under just conditions. “The officials, having been brought up in the Soviet way, were to work in the Soviet manner. When saying CIS, we mean what began robbing Armenia through nice wording called “Property for Debt”” , Hayrikyan says. Unlike the CIS observers, OSCE ones voiced dissatisfaction about the election process. The result was that CEC announced about the second round, not yet counting all the votes. As to those competing in the second phase, Hayrikyan thinks the mostly “hit” candidate /meaning irregularities committed towards/ is Artashes Geghamyan. USD hasn’t decided yet what stance to hold at the second phase. The decision will be made at the USD assembly. Nevertheless, realising the demand on beginning the elections all over again is unreal, USD Chairman has some suggestions before the second phase. He dissents from the opinion that the fate of the country is in the hands of criminals. He means the members of divisional election committees. Before the second round USD leader demands to review the staff of members of divisional election committees and to make numbered coupons with voting papers to exclude possibility of “merry-go-round” breaches.
