Anglophilia? Russophobia?

Every other street person, taxi driver, tour guide in Yerevan has, or is trying to learn English.

Any wonder?

Majority of the most “profitable” tourists are English speaking Armenians from America.

No, no. The hotel I stayed in during my last visit was filled with French speaking Armenians from Marseille and Paris. who chattered in a Franco-Armenian “dialect”.

I don’t know Russian. There are some here who may.

Is what Ajarian says here true? That the Russian grammar is so “babelonianly difficult”? When did the Russians learn to speak and write in “russian”? The story of the Cyrillic/Slavic Alphabet is very interesting. It was devised in 867 AD by the saints, brothers - Cyril(Constantine) and Methodius, oddly enough Greeks.****

If they could learn that “eltsin” is not “yeltsin” , and in the process rid us from calling Ërevan/ErebuniYerevan, Երեվան Երեւա ն Երեբանի Երերբունի Էրեւան Էրեբունի.Not Yerevan but Էրեւան Erewan.

Please rid us from calling the fifth letter of the Ayb Ben Gim as Ye/yech (eltsin-yeltsin), it is E. The seventh letter Է is equivalent of the English A as in “and”, and the Greek ETA while Ե is the Greek Epsylon. The reason why we call te donkey “eshek/էշէկ/իշուկ not եշեկ/ եշուկ:

Դատավորի այն հարցին, թե լեզվաբանը ինչու է անգլերենը ռուսերենից ավելի շատ սիրում*, Աճառյանը պատասխանել է, թե անգլերենի քերականությունը հեշտ է, 300 բառ իմացողը կարող է ճառ արտասանել, մինչդեռ ռուսաց լեզվի քերականությունը շատ դժվար է նույնիսկ ռուսների համար: Իսկ «նացիոնալիստ» բառի կապակցությամբ ասել է. «Ես սիրում եմ իմ ազգը` առանց ատելու մյուս ազգերը: Մենք փոքր ազգ ենք. եթե հայերը ազգասեր չլինեին, հայ ազգը այդքան դարեր չէր կարող պահպանել իր գոյությունը»:

Why don’t the Yerevantsis call the donkey “yesh/ԵՇ ” Instead of “esh/ԷՇ? Did the likes of abeghovsky have anything to do in this witchhunt? Why do those abeghsky-s still maintain on the letter Է ? Just so they can write ԷՇ instead of ԵՇ? Where did the letter Է disappear, except in ԷՇ. You may not know this , that the letter է was never meant to sound like the letter Ե:

In Aleppo, a young man (age 18-19)of Armenia heritage, a conscript in the Syrian army, who could speak English had been seen, in his army uniform speaking to a European person . He had been turned in, eventually was jailed and tortured as a foreign spy. After months and years of imprisonment and torture he was dishonorably discharged to never again be a productive citizen.
