Nané
http://www.fox.com/lietome/ I love this show and was thrilled that the new season (finally) started yesterday. Cal Lightman's character is actually based on Dr. Paul Ekman who's a notable psychologist and a pioneer in the study of emotions and their relation to facial expressions. Ekman has been able to show that contrary to the belief of some anthropologists, facial expressions of emotion are not culturally determined, but universal across human cultures and thus biological in origin. Therefore, being able to read those expressions gives one the precious power to differentiate between a lie and a true statement. And who wouldn't want that right? That's where Lightman and his group come in.

Nané
BTW, one of the executive producers of this show is Armenian - Vahan Moosekian. And yesterday I was watching "Manhunters: Fugitive Task Force." As I was reading the credits I noticed that one of the executive producers of this show is Armenian as well - Gary Tarpinian. I don't know why but that makes me happy.
Sip
My most favorite part about "Lie to Me" is when they do the quick flash-backs to real pictures of famous people to illustrate other examples of the some facial expression in question ... I think they do that very well. I am not sure I personally buy the over-dramatization of the "reading" of expressions ... but certainly you can tell a few things about a person by how they behave. Well yeah, it is over-dramatized. It is a drama series after all. But it's so much fun to watch, especially Tim Roth. I think he's one of the best actors of our time. I fell in love with his acting after watching "Legand of 1900." And yeah, the quick flash-blacks are really interesting too.

He is very good. I watched it on and off last season but this last one with the multi-personality girl was just awesome.
