Arvestaked
MOCA in L.A. is having an exhibit of works from their permanent collection. The most notable section is a large room devoted to eight Rothko painting. It's an incredible room to be in. Check it out if you have time. http://www.moca.org/images/museum/421_440161001240599770.jpg

Sahak
True story my 1st job in Boston was a security guard in Harvard University. Most people don't know that Harvard has serious art collection.Anyway they had a Rothko room full of his massive paintings and I was the guard in that room. 1st day I enjoyed them 8hrs staring at them 2nd day got boring 3rd day I was begging my supervisor to get me out of there any room but Rothko.... So much for all the BS crap art critics contributed his works to "religious mythical experience bla bla pseudo intellectual masturbations. The bottom line is Rothko "found" a motive that made him stand out thus he repeated himself over and over again and in the process he also got bored from himself.Often times Artist create works on subconscious level playing with form and color and often not even a thought enters about "spiritualism and all the other isms that part is the job of BS formulators called critics... In short take Rothko in max 1 hr viewing and it will be brilliant, great experience and more then that you'll cry in tears from boredom.
