Arpa
These kind of commercial ads are known as "medicine show" and "snake oil sale" in American culture. Today they would be known as "ïmitation v****a merchants".P. T. Barnum described the potential "customers"as " a sucker is born every minute". Where did I read that it takes at least two units of electric/battery power to produce one unit of combustible Hydrogen? It all looks good on paper, or in this case car-d-board, show me that car that fills the gas tank with tap or distilled water. DominO123
Hydrogen does not have the same octane rating, it's close to 140, would this not shorten the life of your engine? Edited August 1, 2009 by DominO
DominO123
OK MosJan, I filtered all the crap on the web for you and came up with four real reviews (in comparaison to the fake reviews and paid publicities): http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive....html?series=19 http://www.wyff4.com/news/17036761/detail.html#- http://www.3news.co.nz/Video/CampbellLive/...84/Default.aspx http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2008/07/water4gas.html
MosJan
most of the kits that we have found are using Hydrogen & Gasoline at the same time, sooooo Hydrogen is adding octane, just like octane busters, your still using Gasoline... Hydrogen helps since it's highly flammable and will cost "nothing" after installation of the kit... life of the engine ??? willl know wan we do the test on Azats car
DominO123
In short Arpa has it right, it's snake oil. But thinking a little bit, no test is required to know it's bogus. Take the claim that it will save 30% of fuel..., if that was true, it would mean you would be producing free energy and this is how. The unites are said to consume 15-20A, that's about 180W to 240W of energy. We know that electric motors are more efficient than fuel engines. If the energy conversion from elecricity to engine energy had no loss, it would mean that the extra power provided to your engine by the hybrid conversion would be at best those provided by an electric motor of 240W (and this if there is absolutly no loss of energy in the conversion). The Honda Civic Hybrid electric motor consumes 15,000 W that's about 63 times more energy than this 240W, yet Civic electric motor provides only 20 hoursepower. Funny that all those 4 links I provided even wasted their times testing this snake oil to realise it does not work, when common sense would show it's impossible. Imagine, you would be producing more energy than you are actually wasting, and thosefor this would have been the solution to all our world energy shortage. MosJan
so this is the key I spent a good hour on the phone yesterday with Fran Giroux of hydrogen-boost.com. He tells me that the HHO injection is only an enabler for other devices and changes. The fuel savings doesn't come from the energy contained in the hydrogen as it's burned, which is what I've asserted all along was implausible. Giroux sells a system of modifications that disables the engine management's computer and makes the engine run extremely lean—as lean as 20:1. That's far from the normal 14.7:1. The hydrogen is necessary to let the ultralean mix burn completely, he claims. There's also a heater for the fuel to promote complete vaporization, and some additives for the fuel and oil to complete his system. Interesting? Why, yes. But there's a catch. These mods come under the category of tampering with a federally-mandated emissions control system, making it impossible to pass the underhood visual inspection component of many state smog inspections. To pass this underhood check, no part of the emissions control system can appear to have been modified or disabled. Add in the OBD II pass-fail to the smog check, and odds are these modifications will keep you from getting a smog sticker. That means you might have to disable—and perhaps remove—the system to pass the annual test. Just don't get caught in between.
DominO123
Yeah, that's interesting, but it goes well beyond the proposed simplistic modifications by the kits. Don't spend anything prior to having any reviews which includes those extra modifications. But on paper, even that is impossible, something like 30% increase in efficiency would make any fuel gazoline engine 60% efficient, which would make it more efficient than diesel. Sip and you can then still have all the free home made foods by playing with one of his cars. Edited August 1, 2009 by DominO
Azat
Domino, thanks man. Sip
Ok I haven't had a chance to check out the details of the H-engine stuff but Azat's last post really got my attention! I've been looking for any excuse to use my new grill .. which is AWESOME by the way A friend of mine has converted his suzuki samurai to run on propane ... the little bugger runs pretty good! I still don't know all the details and he mainly uses it for offroading but it seems like a fun project. MosJan
Sip propane is / was used in Armenia it worked fine on most cars, if the car was EFI it works excellent, one downside is propane is way to expensive, but it has the power
MosJan
PS. propane is not considered green energy by many, since it's an byproduct of crude oil, i was told by MJ in 2004 Darrn i'm still ok i remember thinks http://hyeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=9414&hl=propane
