Arpa
Wally Conkie, That is what I used to call him. Even if some may still talk about that freak michael Jack-ass-son, today’s buzz is about the demise of a great American Idol Walter Cronkite http://www.etonline.com/gallery/2009/07/75503/index.html After so many teachers of the English language I have had, he was my last and the best. During my early days in America, I could not wait until I got home after work and turn on the CBS News to hear him talk. Even though in those days, my English was not anything to sneer at, yet some of my pronunciations and idioms were kind of not quite American. He may have been talking about very vital issues of the day, but to me, it was his idiom, diction and pronunciation. I would sit there and repeat the words and emulate him. I must admit that I owe my barely audible “accent” of "amerikanish" to him.
Armenak
Cronkite was before my time, but Arpa, I was certain you would have found some sort of Armenian connection to him.
Arpa
Cronkite was before my time, but Arpa, I was certain you would have found some sort of Armenian connection to him. I doubt it, yet you forced me. Another newsman icon, my wife''s virtual lover, I liked him too, was Peter Jennings. He did have Armenian connection, beside having been married to an Armenian woman, he sprnt long time in Beriru and had picked up a few Armenian phraes. When he was in our town, a fried of mine had been at the banquet, and upon seeing my friend's surname, Peter had said- "Barev, inchpes es". Arpa
Today we mourn the passing of a great American, a great friend of the Armenian. A GREAT LOSS Senator Edward (Ted/Teddy) Kennedy. RIP Dear Edward K. Let’s see how long the media will talk about him after his body is laid to rest, as opposed to the following freaky idiot. How many will spot his ghost at K-Mart, next to Elvis the Pelvis and that freaky Mikey? http://hyeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=21772&hl=freak Edited August 26, 2009 by ArpA
