MosJan Posted September 20, 2001 Report Share Posted September 20, 2001 NEW TV CHANNEL TO SHOCK THE PUBLIC, OWNER SAYS YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS: A Russia-based businessman of Armenian origin Tigran Karapetian is launching a new TV channel in Armenia from November 25. This will be the 18th acting TV channel in Armenia. "The new channel is called Alternative Information Means (AIM) and its credo is "to call things their real names," Tigran Karapetian told Armenpress. The channel will first broadcast seven and a half hours a day with four news bulletins, one of them in Russian. Karapetian said that about 90 percent of the programs will be in Armenian. The new channel is equipped with most advanced technique. Tigran Karapetian said he had brought together most professional staff. "None of the local TV channels has yet shocked the public and we are going to do it," Karapetian said, adding that the personnel's medium salary would be between $100 and $400. The new TV channel is a component of the AIM holding, a strong informational structure with a radio station, newspaper, statistical and sociological agencies.
