Guest
Dear Berj I think 90000 is somehow exaggerated, maybe 90000 (but still I think it is exagerated, maybe it's Russian propaganda to say the Russians were great protectors) from all countries not only Iran. The only statistics the Armenian authorities of Iran gave me about the migration of the Iranian Armenians to Soviet Union and Russia was 20000, and many of the recent migrants turned back after the collapse of USSR or went to USA, they regained mostly their Iranian citizenship, in USA (due to the law that I also got mine last week, it's called liberalization and reform ) The number of Armenians moved to Gilan caspian coast and central parts of Iran us documented 300000 although saome Armenians say more than 330000, and there lived allways large community of Armenians in north Western Part of contemporary Iran. The Georgia's Georgians claim the number of the Georgians moved to central Iran was 200000, I don't know on which sourse they base it. The numbers I have is that Ferydunshari Georgians are comprised of 19 tribes who came there during the 17th centuries, there is also reported that the elite army of Tofängcian (who fouth Qizilbash in order of the Safavid empire) comprised more than 22000 Georgian men (if we think that some of these men were married and had children let's say we *3= 66000 Georgians) if one tribe of those Ferydunshahri's comprised of 300 person we will get also some 57000 Georgians, but I think they were not the same Georgians or maybe overlapped the first 66000 . anyway the Georgians didn't come to central parts of Itran all at the same time and as the same reason, due to the Georgianness of Safavid ruling class, the contacts between Esfahan and Georgia have been intense. Surorus, I must get and find the lexically and ethymologically similar words it takes much time and energy, from the other side we can include to the list 100s more words, but what is the need of it, we all know that the Indo-European words sound similar. If you want to say that Persian is not an IndoEuropean language, beacuse Persians are not Christains I have to dissappoint you. PS> I sent you an e_mail I wonder what is your reply to that. Persian is Indo-European.I just was curious to see if the Armenian words that are so similar to Russian and English would be as much similar to Persian. If you cannot do it, that is ok. I am not very interested in Persian language. [This message has been edited by surorus (edited December 17, 2000).]
Guest
Surorus I don't care if you are interested in Persian language or not. Yes the Persian words are very similar both to the Russian and to the Armenian ones, plus there are thousends of words which are also similar but there are not on your list, plus there are words which in one language is not, more in use but would have been the ethymological the same one. To give an example Astavadz-----------> would be hästibaz, (God= who gives existance) but Persian uses still the older word Xoda= God.The word Div means demon in Persian, it is etymologically the same word as Deva in sanskrit, Diva/Devs in Latin, Theos in Greek, Dio in Italian and deau in French, but the word Daeva in Avestic (the most ancient Iranian language) were used for the preZoroastrian Aryan Gods, who became the untruth idols and later Demons, (Also the English Devil is related to this word!).Another word for God in Persian is Bag (Bagdad is built by the Sasanides and means Bag+dad God+gave/given) Bagpuher (is the emperor of China means Bag God (like the Russian word) and puher , son (like the Latin Puer). So the same ethymological words can have different meaniangs or in this case there are new words made etc... So clarifying the words is a difficult task, but to give a bunch of similar words is not a difficult task. If I have more time I would have done it, but in the case you áre not interested, I will not waste my time and energy. I have sent you an e_mail . Guest
Surorus jan, If you are interested in Armenian/Persian cognates, me and Berj did this already a while back in the language section, though Garo deleted it. We tried to resurrect most of the cognates again in a post in the same section, look for it. But are you really interested in it? It seems like in your post you are trying only to be belligerent with Iranyar, and nothing more.
