Through holes of blue plastic upholstery surrounding the American embassy building of Armenia one can already see the high stone walls which replaced the iron fence. To our question why the US diplomatic representation decided to build those walls in Yerevan the head of the embassy’s press office answered in short American style: ‘Coming from security reasons’.

 

 

We understand that the walls have security meaning. The issue here is the cause, which can be, for instance, the arrival of new US ambassador to Armenia. ‘The new walls don’t have anything to do with the arrival of the new ambassador’,- we were informed at the embassy’s press office. And they assured that the construction of stone walls was planned a long time ago. Simply it was being postponed because Yerevan’s mayor’s office delayed the delivery of corresponding license. The architects of the mayor’s office were probably discussing the possible changes of Baghramian Avenue’s outer look.

 

 

Coming to the newly appointed US ambassador to Armenia we were informed at the press office that at present the US Senate is dealing with the case, and it will reconfirm the new ambassador to Armenia in September.
