Guest Posted December 2, 2000 Report Share Posted December 2, 2000 Boy assaulted in alleged hate crime By JENNA BORDELON SOUTH SAN FERNANDO DISTRICT -- Police are searching for three suspects who allegedly assaulted a 14-year-old boy because he was Armenian. The boy was walking in the 200 block of West Santa Anita Avenue Tuesday when he noticed a car stop in the middle of the street. The boy told police two girls and a boy in their late teens got out of the red or burgundy Honda Accord. The other boy screamed an obscenity at the 14-year-old, including a derogatory comment about Armenian power, police said. One of the girls, described as Hispanic, 5 feet 9 inches with brown eyes and long, red hair, approached the boy and slammed a large rock into his face, police said. The other girl, also Hispanic, 5 feet 2 inches, with red hair and a pierced bellybutton and wearing a brown shirt, also hit the boy with a rock. The boy told police he fell to the ground and the other boy, described as 5 feet 10 inches with a goatee, shaved head and pierced eyebrow, kicked him several times in the chest. The boy was treated by paramedics for large bruises to the back and right side of his head and was released, police said. No suspects have been arrested.
