And I have fallen in love with the Armenian culture. I have also been blessed with a new job title...Daddy! I'd like to know how to write and say "God's Salvation" and my sons name "Isaiah" in Classical Armenian. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you for all your help and time!!! Lojakk Posted October 23, 2008 Author Report Share Posted October 23, 2008 Once I lock in the most correct translation of "God's Salvation" my family is getting custom crib bedding and furniture with the phrase burned in. Does Rosetta Stone (the learn a new lingo company) make a good eastern armenian version? Anybody know. My plan is to download the lessons to my iPod and learn while sleeping, that way it is more natural than forcibly taught. Thanks once again for all the comments and help. The most literal translation of "God's Salvation" I would recommend is "Asdoodzo P'rgootun" in Western or "Ast'tso P'rkootyoun" in Eastern, depending on your preference. The Western Armenian spelling matches the Classical spelling, but the consonant pronunciation of Eastern is closer. Depending on what you want, there are other ways to express similar ideas. Asdoodzo P'rgootun is literally "of-God the-saving-ness" and lexically closest to God's Salvation in English, but Soorp P'rgich means "Holy Savior." My mom had a wall hanging in the nursery at our home that said "Asdvadz Amenagal, Amenaked, Amenades: Manoogners Bahe" which means "God Omnipotent, Omnescient, All-seeing, protect/keep the children." We also had the Trisagion (thrice holy) from the Badarak (Armenian Mass) on another wall: Sourp Asdvadz, Sourp yev Hzor, Sourp yev Anmah, Voghormya Mez- Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us."Orhnya Der/Ter" is Classical "(may) God bless" and is a very common blessing.
