Guest Posted November 13, 2000 Report Share Posted November 13, 2000 NEW ACCELERATOR TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN YEREVANYEREVAN, NOVEMBER 13, ARMENPRESS:The fourth session of Synchrotron Light for Experimental Scienceand Applications in the Middle East (SESAME) took place in YerevanNovember 9-10. According to Armenian foreign ministry, the aim of the cooperationis to set up a relevant center for Middle East, Persian Gulf andSouth Caucasian countries. During the previous session Armenia expressed its desire to havethe center in Armenia on the basis of Yerevan Physics Institute.It is worth mentioning that none of the member-countries hasappropriate substructures as the Yerevan Physics Institute. Taking into account that the program was conceived as an incentiveto promote peace processes in the Middle East, it was proposed toexpand the frames of scientific cooperation by establishing acenter in Jordan with a small accelerator with 1 GeV energycapacity, granted by Germany.
