Multitasking...

I appologize in advance about this post but as men get older, they get very good at "multi-tasking" certain things. All those around here who have reached the age when in the morning, they start farting while peeing know exactly what I'm talking about. And damn it, I don't know what the heck these "researchers" are talking about but it doesn't need much focus at all to multi-task like that.

How about "chewing gum and walking" at the same time?

Hello Preident Gerald Ford (RIP) and Chevy Chase!! :P :) :D

How about "picking your nose" and picking cherries/apricots simultaneously? :P

i cannot concentrate on one thing at a time... i have to do either nothing or multiple things at a time... (more often nothing)... when i work on one thing only i feel as though i'm wasting time or playing around... i feel as though i can do more with my time but i'm being lazy...

  • 3 months later...
i can only single task - all i do is kick back and make it look like i'm working

Thats alllll

Few years ago i had a coworker, she had diabetes and during the day especially after having lunch, she would fall asleep…She had it all planned, she’d take a file folder, put it on her lap, take a pen in her hand and pretend like she is making notes…and then she would get startled when someone stepped in or the phone rang…this was ongoing, and I told her that she can go and sleep in the other room, I’ll take care of the work….she was very happy, until one day we got caught by our boss  :vampire: , she was very upset on me that I covered my coworkers nap hours :sleep1: , and my coworker went back to making notes on the file folders… -_-

Qerri,

It has been proven that neurologically the brain is able to handle only one task at a time, so we just make it harder for us when we're trying to multitask which in fact is switch task, nothing gets done and we get anxious and stressed...

1. Take control over technology

Your cell phone ringer (even on vibrate) doesn’t need to be on all the time. You can turn off email notification on your computer as well. Become master over the nagging beeps and buzzes by creating some silence.

2. Schedule what you can schedule

Set regular times in the day and week to check your voicemail and email. Let others know that you will be using that schedule so they know when to expect a reply.

3. Focus on the person

When you switchtask when dealing with a computer, you simply lose efficiency. But if you switchtask on a human being, you additionally damage a relationship. Be present, listen carefully, and make sure everything has been taken care of before moving on.

As a side note...Women are much quicker (based on research, i'm not making this up)...we switchtask so fast it almost looks like multitasking...:)

Read Arpa's posts and pull your hair. :o :P

Seriously though, “multitasking” is when a President is also a brother/sister husband/wife, father/mother. When a vice presidential candidate is also a wife, sister, daughter, mother and a “domestic engineer”. When a physician, a nuclear physicist is also, a son, brother, father, a “domestic engineer“, a daughter, sister, mother and a “domestic engineer“.

When a CEO of a multi-Billion company is also a soccer coach, a landscape (grass cutter) engineer, a diaper changer, a garage mechanic during the weekend days and a lover at night.. When a woman is a cook, bottle washer, floor sweeper, booboo kisser, diaper changer, a “soccer mom” during the weekends and a lover at night.

We are all multitaskers, as some would, we are all actors, act as all the above and more.

It is, when at work, trying to earn a living, we call home every 5 minutes to see if our children are behaving.

Need we say more?

is reading hyeforum while working considered multitasking? or is it just way of life...

Wow Harut, me and you both multi task the same way. But I haven't been doing such a good job with the forum part.

Joking aside, it's very important now a days to multi task at work. The economy is so bad that they have one person work in place of three people. You have no choice but to multi task.
