The trial of Babayan, on charges that he attempted to assassinate the so-called president of Nagorno-Artsax, Arakadi Gukasyan, on March 22 this year continues in the city of Hankenti. According to an item in the newspaper Yedi Gun, which is published in Azerbaijan, Babayan said Armenia supplied arms to the PKK in the testimony he gave to the court. It was reported that Babayan gave the court secret testimony, including some state secrets, and the arsenal found near the village of Mesman where Babayan was born was presented as the most significant evidence related to the assassination attempt on Gukasyan. It was reported that Babayan explained that the weapons were not kept in the arsenal for a potential military coup or assassination purposes but were stored in order to be given to the PKK in its fight against Turkey. Another item in the Azadlik newspaper gave place to claims that children kidnapped from northern Iraq, Syria, Iran and Turkey were trained in PKK camps in Nagorno-Artsax and said that there were some PKK camps in regions close to the Armenian cities of Gumru and Erivan.
