Foreign and Defense Ministers Appointed

YEREVAN (Presidential News Office)--Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian issued two decrees Monday appointing Edward Nalbandian and Major General Seyran Ohanian as Foreign Minister and Defense Minister, respectively.

Edward Nalbandian was Armenia's ambassador to France, Vatican, Israel and Andorra under the Robert Kocharian administration.

Since June, 2007, Seyran Ohanian served as Chief of Staff of Armenia's Armed forces and was the first deputy defense minister.

Armenia's newly formed political coalition on Friday was still in talks over the distribution of roles in the emerging Cabinet, with its newly appointed head promising the negotiations would be completed by the end of the week.

“You will be informed about decisions in a few days, but at this moment it is not correct to make any statement, because it will only hamper the discussions,” Tigran Sargsyan told reporters.

The new prime minister also defended President Serzh Sarkisian's election programs as a means to defuse tensions in society.

“I think that Serzh Sarkisian gave an exhaustive answer to all questions in his inauguration speech [Wednesday] and I fully agree with the evaluations of the republic's president, and I think the path that he has embarked on is the only way that will provide an opportunity to ensure an atmosphere of solidarity in our country,” Sargsyan (no relation to Serzh) said.

Sargsyan also asked for some time to provide answers to all questions. “I think you should give me an opportunity; Don't ask for answers to all questions now. It's only two days since I took the prime minister's job,” he said.

Former chief banker Sargsyan, who is currently not affiliated with any political party and is considered to be a technocrat manager, agreed that his new job implied a serious political component. “No economic reform can be fulfilled without political contents, and the prime minister's is a fully political post,” he said

I get an impression Sargsyan is serious about his business. First it was Tigran Sargsyan, now Nalbandian and Ohanyan are joining the team. Finally we will have professionals running the business in Armenian-Instead of that bashi-bozukner.

ANGELA MERKEL: ONE WHO DOES NOT KNOW HIS HISTORY, CAN’T BUILT HIS FUTURE

 

Yesterday, during the session of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, Councilor of Germany Angela Merkel answered the questions of the delehgates present to the session. Member of the Armenian delegation Raffi Hovanissian asked the German Councilor about the attitude of Germany to the issue of recognition of the Armenian Genocide, taking into account that Germany was the first state to recognize the holocaust. Mr. Hovanissian also wandered how can Germany’ s leadership in such an issue go together with its position on the Armenian Genocide.

 

Ms. Merkel answered that Germany supports the discussion of the Armenian Genocide, especially in those countries, where similar tragedies have taken place. One who does not know his history, can’t built his future, she said. Ms. Merkel added that it is not only freedom that unites Europe, but also tolerance, which is very important.

What has she actually said?

Who was she addressing it? To the furks or the Armenians, or, maybe to her own people who after losing WW1 once again launched WW!! To once again lose it?

If she is in fact addressing the furks does she mean she will vote against EU membership until they “know their history”?

Like I said above, my English may not be as good. Maybe I should learn German to understand her.

So, now that Raffi has extracted this piece of gem out of her mouthhe should be crowned as king of Ararat?

Native Americans have a saying that goes- “White man speak with forked tongue”.

Does Ms. Angela know that at the going rate furkish will be the official language of Berlin?

Has ms. Merkel's bundestag passed an AG resolution?

BTW. Ms. Angela is the “chancellor” not “councilor”.
