LET'S START FROM 1918

Hayots Ashkhar Daily

Published on April 11, 2008

Yesterday the Parliament was discussing the daft statement on "Artsax

Conflict", circulated by Tigran Torosyan.

Vahan Hovhannisyan appeared with a rather interesting proposal:

"Let's remember how Azerbaijan emerged. It emerged as a multi-national

state, where Armenians shared equal rights with everyone, and if

Armenians have been deprived from these rights it is clear that

Armenian inhabitants in Azerbaijan have the right for territorial

compensation. It is not difficult to confirm it legally, because

the political substantiation exists: before 1928 there has been no

corridor, no separation between Nagorno Artsax Autonomous Region

and Armenia. So if Mr. Aliev wants to start the negotiations from

the beginning then we must start from 1918."

It's ok let them start by saying what made Azerbadrjan... how they formed... as usually when they see a crisis going on in a country they start attacking taking over lands, the kitty cats that they are.

Finally someone addresses the right issue, and hopefully with Vahan Hovanissian's remarks a new, more aggressive policies and responses will be issued soon. I think all of us are patiently waiting for that moment.

ARMENIANS SHOULD REACT ADEQUATELY TO AZERBAIJAN'S TOUGH MOVES

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ "I don't think the NKR government should coordinate

with Armenia every move it makes for recognition of Nagorno

Artsax. Independence is the expression of will of Artsaxi people

through the referendum and passage of the Constitution on December 10,

2006. And we must fulfill the will of our people.

Since it is compatible with the stance of Armenia, other countries and

international organizations, it is already the job of the diplomats

and negotiators. As to the National Assembly, it must observe the

provisions of the Constitution," said Vahram Atanesyan, chairman of

the NKR National Assembly Committee on Foreign Relations.

"The Artsax side never stated to endorse the principles proposed

in Madrid. We rejected those principles from the beginning," he said.

The NKR minister of foreign affairs Georgy Petrosyan thinks Azerbaijan

is aspired to derive maximum benefit from the talks. "Azerbaijan

has made its stance tougher. It means that the Armenian sides should

draw conclusions and take adequate moves," the minister said. "The

independence and freedom of NKR cannot be an issue of discussion,"

he added, Artsax-Open.com reports.

We should give Lachin to the Kurds to win their supports. The Azeri deported the Kurds from there.

Not give but encourage some Kurdish settlement (who would be granted citizenship) due to their high birth rate. Of course, Armenian settlement should continue as well. The region of Lachin/Berdzor of the province of Kashatagh is the single most important part of the liberated territories, one that is vital for the survival of Artsakh and Armenia. We need a growth of population there and in Nor Shahumyan (previously known as Kelbajar)

just like that huh:) you'll give lachin to the kurds :)

Nope, it is strategic, the international community will take Lachin as bargin and have it within Azerbaijan. Wait the moment when Artsakh government announce that Red Kurdistan on Lachin should have remained and that there will be resettlement of Kurds there and see the Kurds entering in the game against Azerbaijan

The problem is that we can not maintain that, even if we have Lachin, the return of Azerbaijani refugees will complicate things there. The Kurds were a plurality there before they were pushed from there and replaced, they are the only solution, if Azerbaijani refugees return, why should the Kurds not? :)

not so fast. we have our say in this too. in fact, nothing will ever happen without us agreeing to it. let's not forget the international community already had a plan for us before the Artask war. i'm sure you don't need to hear from me what happened next. what happened 100 years ago is not gonna happen again. just take my word for it. we are ready for everything.

Even more reason to never allow those "Azeris" into Artsakh again. Agdam should be as far west as any of them should be able to settle. If they return, they will eventually outnumber us and will cause us trouble. Their loyalty would be in doubt as well. Artsakh should not become the next Nakhichevan.
